‘They came with Smiths songs in them’
—Johnny Marr
Too bad he can’t find anymore guitars with great songs in them.
If anyone's interested, Nielsen Bookscan reports that Johnny's book sold 3,400 copies in its first week. For an expensive book, that's not too shabby.
And in a manner of speaking, it is. For a coffee table book, those are good first week sales. (The phrase "best seller", especially the way it's used on Amazon, is almost meaningless in itself!)It’s listed as a best seller on Amazon.

Yes, but I'd suggest it's yet another article which dabbles in revisionist history because of Morrissey's latter-day "views". I have no problem with people trying to make the case for Johnny's genius as a guitarist and songwriting partner, but stuff like this, from the article:Really lovely article.
"Marr finally launched a solo career in 2013 and has since released four top ten albums.
And along with this music, has come the revelation that he is a wise, funny, and generous interviewee, an endlessly positive creative force whose mark on the high art of pop music is indelible.
Last week, Marr published a photo book – Marr’s Guitars – in which he talks about the instruments that have served him throughout his remarkable career. It’s a beautiful volume, full of glorious images to satisfy the nerdiest of guitar nerds, and imbued with Marr’s undiminished wonder at the possibilities of music."
Connecting with a friend thanks to the charming man that is Johnny Marr
My friend, the stand-up comedian Matt Forde, is in hospital, recovering from some pretty heavy duty surgery after a cancer diagnosis.www.scotsman.com

"How many of us, I wonder, taped and endlessly rewatched that performance, studying Morrissey’s moves, checking out Marr’s black Rickenbacker guitar, and wondering whether to copy the singer’s towering quiff or the guitarist’s Beatle-esque bob?"
...just doesn't ring true. I remember loads of us, at Smiths concerts, attempting a Morrissey quiff - with varying levels of success - but copying Johnny's hairstyle?? Maybe I'm mis-remembering but that simply was never a thing.
A brilliant book, very beaufiful and interesting! Works better than the actual autobiography. Note: not a single mention of Morrissey in the whole story. Is he an embarrassment nowadays? (PS There’s also a great interview on YouTube about guitars/book/etc., see That Pedal Show)
Just trying to avoid another public bollocking, I'd imagine.A brilliant book, very beaufiful and interesting! Works better than the actual autobiography. I hope so too. Nile has done nothing but make a tense situation worse & seriously needs to wind his neck in.And I’ve noticed that Nile has been quiet also. l’m guessing that after the open-letter, dad told him to
cool it.
However bleak it looks, surely at some point they’ll patch things up, though probably not
work together.
I think they’ll work together, even if it’s a few gigs—it just needs the right cause. And I’ve noticed that Nile has been quiet also. l’m guessing that after the open-letter, dad told him to

There's nothing 'brave' about shit-stirring from behind a screen and trying to insert yourself in a disagreement that doesn't concern you and likely started before you were even born. Johnny might have issues with Moz for his own reasons but he could take it up with M privately, he doesn't need his son to fight his battles. And if anybody really did use Moz' name for clickbait it was no-hoper Nile, not Johnny.I’m sure Nile is just expressing what his whole clan is thinking, like it or not. He’s the brave one.

With Lennon and McCartney putting their fundamental differences aside, for a new single just yesterday, I’ve renewed hope.
