The premise is this…… when you get to a certain age and you’ve acquired certain catalogs and you’ve been an achiever, you expect them to flock to you! Like they would for Macca, George Michael (god rest and love him), Madonna (no matter how ridiculous she looks or antics she pulls)…. They’ll keep flocking to Lana del Ray too despite the intense long waits so why not Moz….. this is the thing that haunt him, why them and not him.

Because they don’t f.uck over their fans like Morrissey does.

Put simply, I’d be more confident of seeing George Michael live in concert these days than I would about seeing Morrissey.

It’s not just the frequency of the cancellations. It’s the drop of a hat manner in which it happens and the “you’re not worthy of an explanation” attitude.

I think, that the tightrope walk between "being humiliated" (ignored by the industry and the press) and "now I'll show you all with my live shows and great new songs" is not an easy one and is getting harder for him every day, despite the tour schedule. This goes to the substance and can lead to failures when the doubts are great .

I can’t even risk Twickets now can I….so I’m going to have to pay the bloody £130 afterall 🤣 all that searching and waiting for nothing 🤣

What to do about leeds, still haven’t purchased ours, more and more tickets appearing on Twickets….do they know something we don’t 🤔
It's more likely that people, quite rightly, don't want to take the risk anymore after hearing about Nottingham. Unfortunately, I've booked a hotel and train, so I'm heading to Leeds regardless. Plus, luckily, if M doesn't play there is another gig in Leeds on the same night which at least means I won't be going for nothing.

This constant uncertainty is every fans worst nightmare.

The Chameleons? Saw them a couple of weeks ago, they were wonderful. Mark on top form.

Indeed…..

I’d like to see GM in hologram too, would be insane ❤️

Where did you see them Thewlis, they're another band I've seen many times, first time was in Middleton in 83 and the next time, 2 wives and 3 kids later will be 2 nights at The Ritz in Manchester this coming December.

I think you mean Alain and Boz as the heart and soul? But yes, agreed, they were always very well liked and will always be as the prime songwriters of all those classic songs from the past 31 years.
I was referring to the time shared while Gus & Alain were in the band together. And it wasn’t meant as a comment on writing or playing ability. It was more an observation of their overall significance… their influence in the sound and the direct connect they had with the fans, etc.
As for Boz, it always seemed to me like he and Al got on more like brothers than friends. In my opinion, that relationship provided some of the best work of M’s solo career. It was a healthy “competition” of sorts that pushed them both to write some really great stuff . I hate that word… because while they were writing and submitting their own stuff, you always got the sense they were pulling in the same direction as a band (at least most of the time). The synergy was at its peak during those years (my opinion only).

22.92% is a lot! That'd probably lead to dismissal in most normal jobs.

The average in the UK is 4.6 days per employee. 252 working days in the UK, so that's an average of 1.82% of working time spent on sickness absence per employee. SPM is going above and beyond at being above average for this one.
But why are you comparing what he does to some average job? It's not, and he's not an employee. He took a different path. Fortunately, for him and us.

Here in the Netherlands a few weeks ago.
Saw them many times before but this show was extra special with Reg back on board.

During Soul in Isolation they even did a snippet of There Is a Light.

It would be really interesting to know if the idea of a reunion of the '91 lineup even made it to Morrissey? Alain Whyte has expressed it very clearly. And if it only were for a few concerts (such as the Stray Cats) from which Boz would come out of retirement. Too many bridges to cross?
On one hand, there are not very many things that Moz doesn’t catch wind of in some way, but there are also times when he’s definitely purposely sheltered from some information. I know this for fact. The irony is it mirrors a lot of what M rips publicly about the media (getting half truths and outright lies). There are times he’s fed complete falsehoods or distortion of facts by those that are only looking out for their best interests and/or don’t want to rock the boat. It makes for some bad decisions.

Reunion type things are always tricky. Anniversary gigs always seem to go over pretty well with fans. I thought it would have totally been doable around the time of the Vegas shows which coincidentally would have been perfect for the 30yr Kill Uncle/Your Arsenal era records/tours. It would have been cool if he’d have assembled the original band just for those shows(if they were all willing), played the songs of that era for 5 nights or whatever and then proceeded to tour after that with the current/regular band. That way,
no one’s feelings get hurt, it brings an additional level of marquee value to those gigs (allowing him to likely sell out even the upper rafters in Caesar’s that were closed off for his gigs) and it brings back a lot of those old fans, a good portion of whom would likely have stayed around. It would have provided Boz the opportunity for the send off he deserved, etc., etc. It was a win/win… an opportunity sadly missed.

Yes, sadly Moz is not one for the anniversary gigs.
A 30 years Vauxhall-Tour next year would be great, or a 20 year Quarry-tour.

All we get, and just the Americas, is something vague like ‘40 years of Morrissey’ which literally gives no clue whatsoever what to expect.

Yes! Saw them twice in the past month, so this would be the third time. I know Mark personally and he's a genuinely great guy. Down to earth as they come. Absolutely on top form, for sure. I'm glad you had a fantastic time, too. It'll take a lot to beat the Newcastle gig. It was just epic.

On the one hand "yes" but the call for "more" from the old band would certainly have been heard and would have burdened any new line-up. You don't really assume, that such "matters" would be settled quietly and objectively on Planet Morrissey?

Expect "Notre Dame" and "Sure enough the telephone rings".

This is exactly how I see it. The departure of Alan and Gustavo is, in my opinion, the final end of seeing Morrissey as Morrissey and the BAND. We must remember that there were shows where Morrissey introduced the band saying "We are Morrissey". It was a bit weird but I liked it. It doesn't look very optimistic now. We have Morrissey who is above all else. Jessie's boss. And session musicians. Craftsmen . I didn't see any chemistry on stage there, no joy in playing. But ok, it's only three concerts so far, and only a dozen videos on YT. But still, I envy a little bit everyone who had the privilege of being in Israel and Portsmouth :D
All valid points and yes, I’d be lying if I said those shows weren’t of interest to me. Then having seen the set lists and some videos, it does seem like something is missing (I’m not referring to the obvious). It wouldn’t surprise me if that’s why the show was canceled (pure conjecture). Maybe to give some extra time to work on some things. He’s still a perfectionist in some ways and maybe sacrificing one show in order to really nail the rest of the gigs is seen as worth it. REALLY not say this was the case… none of us know the reason (which is another issue altogether). At least on the previous tour when there was the string of cancellations, fans were shown the respect by management at the time of at least being told “something” (illness). The lack of proper management isn’t helping the cause right now.
