Morrissey could quite easily get a record deal if he were to do a credible interview with a reputable magazine / media outlet and row back on his comments on Islam , race and the whole For Britain fiasco, but he doesn’t , just gives an audience to those who will feed him soft ball questions and make it some sort of cancel culture / art debate.

Add to that, nobody is stopping Morrissey bar Morrissey himself from self releasing the album he has paid for / had produced, again his personal pride and an old fashioned industry approach is proving an Achilles heel (not that songs about conspiracy theories for notre dame will do anything for his credibility anyway , probably a blessing in disguise most people will never hear that song officially released.

Morrissey, as much as I love the artist / songs and so much of his humourous interviews / references over the years and things he’s put me onto, not to mention the still incredible live shows & voice, will need to decide if he wants to assimilate to the modern music world or just keep playing the martyr to the hardcore (a hardcore which he keeps pissing of with his concert cancellations and lack of remorse : comments about!!

Wether we consider him a truth-teller or not, we might all agree on the fact that Miley's vocals blocking the release of his album contributed to silence him.

I'd say his unwillingness to adapt and deal with the situation (i.e., remove or replace the vocals) caused that outcome.

It seems to me that he really liked Miley's vocals and was very frustrated when she decided to be out of his album. I can understand that. What I don't quite get is why he couldn't bring himself to rerecord the song, so that Capitol could release BOT.

Though, he may have liked them too, and also the perversity of her being on one of his songs.

Even if it means not releasing the album, for now.

I think he was actually frustrated with her management/contract, not allowing her to
be on other artist’s albums, without paying a high price(?) I’m speculating, that neither Columbia or M were willing to fork over.

Nothing specific.

He is an artist. This fact alone places his thinking, feeling and reasoning on a different wave lenght than most people. And on top of that, he's a complex, unique and somewhat troubled personality.

I'm more critical of him these days because I've accepted that he's very self destructive and wants to take everyone else down with him.

As another poster has pointed out, or most of it -
He stopped talking to the press when he got caught lying
He won't buy his album back and remove Miley's vocals
He had to be called out about this on twitter, basically caught in more lies
His band felt they could not work with him anymore
He is canceling shows
If anyone is silencing him, it's him

And his creative output is nothing like it used to be
