Such ridiculous bullshit. There are plenty of real artists out there with lots of things to say. You might not find them in the top 40, but who goes there looking for profundity? Nick Cave is a prime example. So are David Eugene Edwards, Jerome Reuter and Conor Oberst. Not to mention the poets who flourish on the North American alternative country scene, such as Cody Jinks and Benjamin Tod.

Morrissey’s problems are himself and his horrific artistic decline, paired with his unbreakable self-destructive streak. This is why he can’t get a record deal. He’s not being silenced, nor is any other artist. There are plenty of artists out there speaking their mind, playing to reasonably big crowds. He should man up, own up and if he really believes in his yet-to-be released work, he should release it himself.

This isn’t to say I don’t believe Morrissey has truth to speak that people don’t want to hear. But when you get enough posts like this from sycophants such as FiDo it can be tempting to think that every time you don’t get what you want it’s the result of the forces that be trying to silence you.

At this point, the only thing between Morrissey and his fans is his ego. Labels aren't keeping Without Music The World Dies from us. Morrissey's expectation of how his albums must be released is the problem here. He's starting recording on yet another new batch of songs now, yet if I want to listen to "I am Two People", I have to pull out a nearly 20 year old CD single. If he cared about fans, I would be able to stream "Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice" on Spotify.

It's scary to think that in the past 14 years, he has only managed to successfully complete an album/tour cycle once. THAT'S how we got here.

2009 - Years of Refusal successful album/tour cycle
2014 - World Peace album was pulled right after release and he blamed Kristeen's sniffles for cancelling tour dates
2017 - Low in High School - Good Job, Mozi! You pulled it off!
2020 - Not a Dog - not his fault that Covid wiped the music out of the memory banks and tour dates off the calendar.

But yeah, the problem is that in 14 years he's only been able to pull off basic release/promo/touring ONCE. But he's been able to pull off the "I'm announcing that I'm thinking about considering playing some Italian dates that will be announced tomorrow. And the shows will go on, if it's not too cold".

What's really tragic is that people like Fiona genuinely think they are helping Morrissey and being 'good fans' by writing drivel like this, when they are really doing him harm by encouraging his delusions.

Morrissey is person who decided to stop speaking to the press after he got caught out telling lies about Der Spiegal. Morrissey is the person responsible for 'Bonfire' not being released by refusing to replace Miley Cyrus' backing vocals. Morrissey is the person who has refused to buy the album back and either self-release or put it out on an indie, as he thinks the world owes him a major record label deal. Morrissey is the person who refuses to do any promotional work, when he could be doing what Johnny Marr currently does, and work his ass off selling himself 24/7, and building up some goodwill in his audience, press and public.

The only person responsible for 'silencing' Morrissey is Morrissey. But as he's spent decades surrounding himself only with hired goons, 'yes' men, and toadying butt-lickers like Fiona, no one will actually tell him this hard truth. And I say this not as someone who is a 'hater', but a genuine fan who is frustrated by how consistently self-destructs and scores own goals whilst people like Fiona cheer him on from the sidelines and say 'yes, Morrissey - you're doing great! It's not you - it's everyone else! Don't change! More of the same please!' Sheesh.

Moz's crossed arms pose and the drummer as the Johnny lurker peering over Moz' shoulder. Just delete the blondie and Jesse and it is a near carbon copy. Could this possibly have been planned?

Bloody awful piece. Sections of it could have been written by Morrissey himself. There is no great conspiracy to 'silence' him, he's just not worth the trouble for labels to deal with. Morrissey has fallen out with virtually everyone he has been professionally involved with (and possibly personally involved with) since the beginning of The Smiths. They can't all be at fault. Fiona states that the press has never supported talent. That is utter rubbish. To name but one, Johnny Marr gets great press and his talent is lauded and celebrated from pillar to post and I'm pretty sure he was also in The Smiths. There's no conspiracy, big or small, to silence or to 'do' Morrissey or to finish him. He's simply his own worst enemy.

He's at least as talented as Marr, but he doesn't get the same coverage, because of things he said that just don't align with the required ambient conformity.
