Bit of an oddity, but included as an insight to his musical taste.
Jesse chooses a playlist for a 'luxury' fashion brand.
What no Morrissey!?
Regards,
FWD.

He has an evil look in his eye.
I wouldn't call it evil

More like, you know in old westerns when the outsider walks into the saloon and the music stops and everyone turns round and looks?

That look.

He knows someone is about to start shooting, but he just paid for a double

This particular type of lower chin that he's got in that picture usually appears in people who drink a lot (some may say 'too much') of beer (and/or other alcoholic drinks).

Yeah he sure did and not very well.
Time has not been kind to his face!
It's a shame his guitar skills haven't improved much either over the years.

Hes aging like a warm beer instead of a fine wine!

Never pegged him as a Soft Boys or Bad Brains sort…two bands I grew up on and love/respect.
Along with liking Lou, you two would possibly get along fine.
I knew of our mutual appreciation for Reed and Berlin is a wonderful record for what it is. It’s the “safe” choice at that, though.

Never would imagine that ‘Berlin’ was the ‘safe choice’. At least he didn’t choose Transformer. Did we expect Jesse to chose Metal Machine Music?! :lbf:

I drink LOADS - I'm sitting with a drink now - and I've got no chin. There's no meat on me at all. In fact, I'd pass through the eye of a needle. I'm as skinny as a skeleton. Y'all get my drift.

surprised by how much i had in common with this. link wray, wire, bad brains are all good stuff and moondog, gun club, carole king are all stuff in my atmosphere. berlin is my fav lou reed solo record even if it is an obvious choice these days. i often play it with the vu record as they seem to complement each other imo.

Morrissey's favourite designer, I think those 2014 tour shirts with the arrow were Dries Van Noten.
Born in Antwerp in 1958, Dries Van Noten is the third generation in a family of tailors. Celebrated for his unique yet wearable collections combining sharp tailoring with bold prints and colours.

The designer wares to wear...

How would it come about that a musician is approached to choose a bunch of records for a designer? 🕴️ 🤝 :minidisc:

btw, while listening to the Bad Brains song, Don't Need It, I was snooping around and found a decent profile of the band, which mentions they were due to open for a U2 concert in 1987

We played a show at 1018. It was the big show for the New Music Seminar that year in 1987. 1018 had 3,500, 4,000 people there. It was packed. They played a great set and Chris was there to meet the band. We weren't going to get anything done there necessarily, but it would have been good to at least have gotten to introduce H.R. to Chris Blackwell. H.R. was, like, “I’ve got to go to the bathroom.” It was right after the show and the place was emptying out, so there were crowds going out of this big club. He walked right out the door. He was gone, just gone. We were going to open up for U2. They had just released The Joshua Tree, and that was on Island, so it was going to be the U2 Joshua Tree tour with Bad Brains. The record would have been Quickness, I guess, but it didn't happen. H.R. wouldn't sign. He didn't trust Chris Blackwell at all.

Perhaps he uses it as background music played in his store ?
It is an exquisite store, in one of Antwerp’s historical buildings, you can see it on his website: www.driesvannoten.com
Dries almost definitely knows Jesse thanks to Morrissey.
I wonder whether they ( Moz + Jesse + presumably Damon) went shooping there again when they were in Antwerp earlier this year ?

I thought Carole King was an interesting choice, not the type of music I would associate with Jesse.
My oldest sister used to like her a lot, so I got to hear her music as a young teenager but I was so much into 80 s music back then.

I know money is tight, but you'd think Morrissey would pay him enough that he could afford to buy socks. :squiffy:
