Any Morrissey Trump fans here?

I realise people here would be afraid to admit it but I thought I'd ask anyway? I am one of them. By "One of them" I mean a Trump fan, not a person who's afraid to admit it.

You mean like he did last time when he was president 4 years ago? And US democracy did just fine.
The only threats to democracy we have seen were the massive voter fraud in 2020, on this Trump was entirely correct, and the coup that got rid of Joe Biden and replaced him with a candidate that no Democrat voted for. And let's not mention the fact that there is still currently a medically unfit senile dementia patient in the White House - so who is really running the country? That is the real threat to US democracy.
Your cult-like mindset is frightening and sad.

I live in the UK but I am kind of intrigued with him.

I am not a fan of his but I am not particularly concerned. I was very concerned when he was first elected and even went on a totally pointless anti-Trump march/event in Cardiff when he was first elected. Ridiculous really.

But there were no new wars or self inflicted disasters in his first term (obviously we had Covid), with the obvious exception of the appointment of a very conservative Supreme Court judge. Although I am not sure if I would be happy with a left wing judge. The law should not be so political. I think America is fundamentally flawed in that respect.

Have you seen that recent interview Trump gave about John Bolton? It kind of blew my mind. I recall everyone being very concerned when he was appointed at the time, as he was such a war mongering hawk. But Trump suggested that he always knew he was an idiot. But a useful idiot when dealing with Russia and North Korea. Watch it if you can.

I am struck by some of the really stupid things Trump occasionally says. I am reminded when Boris Johnson pretended that his hobby was making toy buses out of cardboard boxes. Utterly ridiculous and a clear lie that just made him look stupid.

I wonder if Trump has always done the same thing. Say stupid things. Make people laugh. Don’t give a f***. Move on. I don’t understand why they think it’s a good idea but I can’t think of another explanation. These people are clearly not totally thick.

I was also struck by Oprah Winfrey saying that you have to vote against Trump otherwise you will never be able to vote again, and all the Hitler comparisons. Clearly nonsense and you are never going to change people’s minds by calling them stupid or saying they are bigots, or saying that anyone that disagrees with you is in a cult. Insane to think that approach would work.

Just my random thoughts.

Please point out anything in my post that wasn't factually accurate?
Voter fraud, for a start. And that Biden has dementia. It is true that Kamala wasn’t elected, but it is false to say that the procedure was illegal or corrupt. I’m sure you will provide some very interesting and ridiculously biased “evidence” to prove I’m wrong, but that’s expected. It’s virtually impossible to dissuade followers of cult leaders.

If only Stephen Miller could be president after Trump, then the Nazi Fascist Misogynistic Homophobic Transphobic White Nationalist Immigrant Hating Handmaid's Tale takeover would be complete. And he's Jewish. I'm here for it.

This is all so very true, the Trump presidency was a very good one despite what the Democrats tried to do to him, they were relentless - and we will have a good presidency again.
Yes, there was massive voter fraud.
Yes, there was a coup to get rid of Biden. And it's not the first time.
True, Kamala did not win one primary either time she ran. No one voted for her to be the nominee, she did not earn that spot, it's cheating.
Biden's dementia has been on full display on many occasions and it was his debate performance where it was laid bare to the world that Pelosi had to step in and give him a final ultimatum - she was going to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove him.

How is he the lesser of the two evils tho? To quote RS: the twice impeached former president, Jan. 6 coup leader, convicted felon, adjudicated sexual abuser, and man who mismanaged the 2020 economic implosion and coronavirus disaster that killed more than 1 million people in this country — has convinced American voters to give him another term in the White House.

I don't even like Harris or the Democratic party. You guys were just mad at the "woke" agenda and just want things to be hidden like they were in the 80s. I'm not gonna argue with a cult tho. Have a nice day 😊

Ok last thing, but is it funny that the op is saying that people here would be afraid to admit they are a Trump supporter? This is a Morrissey forum ffs!!!

What I am curious about, are the trump voters who aren't part of the obsessed cult.

A huge amount of the votes must surely have come from working-class people who didn't particularly care for him but thought he was a better choice than Harris.

As someone not from the US, I am very curious about what these people have to say, as internationally, the only supporters I see are crazy Trump obsessives.

Whether or not they will be delivered, it does seem he has thrown out a few ideas that at least claim to benefit the working class, and there seems to be something of a pattern with lower income people voting for Trump - whether they've been tricked or not is another question.

The sad thing about any conversation relating to Trump is that haters are as willing to jump into exaggeration and nonsense as quickly as Trump lovers do. I wouldn't have voted for him - but I wish to find out why the average person might, instead of just throwing my hands in the air and saying Americans are idiots.

I think in the long term, there may even be a silver lining to this - hopefully, the Democrats will finally realise they have to actually care about working-class people.

A very perceptive post. From someone else far away from the USA it does seem that the Democrats have taken for granted votes from working class and non-white groups.

I suspect the pushing of gender ideology/trans rights will also put off many groups from voting Democrat, especially women - ‘save women’s sports’ and ‘keep men out of women’s spaces’ are such a powerful, punchy and easy to understand messages. And the Democrats I have seen on TV just avoid the question as they have not got a leg to stand on.

People throwing the word cult around is hilarious to me. Buzz-buzz! But hey, I'll indulge...
"Trumpers" I think they're called? Yes, looney. I'll never deny that there are insane people on both sides of the coin.

What are "the woke" then?
Some of them try to indoctrinate children, pressure to do unspeakable, irreversible things to themselves..
I'll leave it at that.

My point is: both sides have normal people, both sides have insane people. Just like always.
--This story is old, I know, but it goes on.

Me being one who is part of the working class, I voted for Trump because he brought more to the table to suit my life and family's future. Simple as that.
Her policies just don't align with me.
That's life.
