FWD.

I didn't. I loved them immediately. Morrissey in '91 was the second best concert I've ever been to in my life, second only to The Smiths in '86 with Craig Gannon in the band.

I think Alain admitted that they didn't exactly sound all that great when they first joined, but that they improved immensely over the course of the Kill Uncle tour.

The Kill Uncle/Your Arsenal tours were really the only true band/gang Moz has ever had, solo-wise (aside from the brief two-month lineup of Gannon/Rourke/Joyce in '88).

They improved but the energy and look were always there.

I have no feelings either way on the current band. Obviously Alain would be preferable but it is what it is. Full disclosure, I haven’t seen any shows with them or really watched any live videos from these past few years.

That said, it doesn’t really fit does it? Not a bad guitarist but that type of playing doesn’t fit in a Morrissey show or this song. Nothing against her though. You could stick a great guitarist like Mark Knopfler in the Smiths and something would be off if the style doesn’t fit

awful. outside of Matt on drums, his current band performs none of the grace that made these songs special in the first place.
Correct, Pigsty has this dark orchestral beauty to it, and Carmen turns it into a Jeff Beck tribute solo, a bad one at that, and we're all supposed to like it because she looks cool or something. :squiffy:

When she first came into the band there were naysayers.

She's clearly an excellent guitarist. I think the hate for her was more due to the fact that she came in after Alain's departure, even though she had nothing to do with that.
For me, as a fan of Alain, it has nothing to do with his departure and everything to do with the fact that she cannot play. I do wish Alain was back, but circumstances are what they are, I don't blame her for that.

One shot. Wow. Amazing.

Sam is so talented!
its hardly a multi camera set up for a 4k release, what more do you want, sam seen a moment and got his camera out, well done carmen electra.

alains not coming back, not today, not tomorrow and probably never,so get over it.

even alain said they were crap in 91.
for me the new band are changing things slightly just to change things up.

No one said they were crap. Alain never said they were crap. You are making stuff up and as others have said, you shouldn't weigh in on things you don't know or understand.

Why anyone would buy an overpriced ticket to see the now elderly Morrissey giving zero effort, standing in one spot, surrounded by mediocre, in some cases androgynous, charismatic-free musicians, and a guitarist who now resembles a Brooklyn bus driver, is beyond me. There is no glamour, no mystique, it looks like a weekend Holiday Inn band. Sorry to be so harsh but Morrissey used to have such great taste.

this is killing you to see both glasgow shows sold out and 15,000 tickets sold for the co-op arena since thurs, theres life in the old dog yet, woof woof.

Gordy didn’t say that was a direct quote. Even in 95, Bowie was hesitant to ask Morrissey to support him because of the reputation M’s band had of not being very good.

In another thread it was your opinion that they sounded great in ‘91. These things are subjective.
But if you believe that is so, then you must agree they sounded better on the ‘92 tour, so there was an improvement, no?

I personally thought they were better in '91 than '92. The raw energy of 1991 was unmatched.

Lol! Watch out for those androgynous types!

Not only do some of your posts make me conclude that you’re a homophobe still in the closet about your own sexuality. Come out, Johnnie! And with the post above, makes me wonder why you were ever a Morrissey fan in the first place.

I don't want to see him live anymore either, for many of the same reasons. But I also think that in the past 5 years, there have been many occasions where Morrissey has had to sit at home and watch people like Rick Astley, Brandon Flowers etc getting praise, attention and megabucks by performing his work whilst never once acknowledging him. I think it's more than time for Moz to take back his place, remind everybody that he's not dead, sell out a big venue and take a few people down a peg or two. I only wish Johnny could be there, but hey.. maybe when they're 80.
