I have no feelings either way on the current band. Obviously Alain would be preferable but it is what it is. Full disclosure, I haven’t seen any shows with them or really watched any live videos from these past few years.

That said, it doesn’t really fit does it? Not a bad guitarist but that type of playing doesn’t fit in a Morrissey show or this song. Nothing against her though. You could stick a great guitarist like Mark Knopfler in the Smiths and something would be off if the style doesn’t fit

Probably Morrissey’s point, and why he chose people like Jesse, etc, etc. The same reason he still doesn’t swing gladioli over his head, or cuff his jeans, or didn’t post a statement at the time of Bowie’s passing. It seems that Morrissey will go out of his way to refuse to do what’s expected of him, even ruin his fan’s idea of what a Smiths or Morrissey song should sound like.

Lol! Watch out for those androgynous types!

Not only do some of your posts make me conclude that you’re a homophobe still in the closet about your own sexuality. Come out, Johnnie! And with the post above, makes me wonder why you were ever a Morrissey fan in the first place.
How am I a homophobe? I think you are for thinking that she is automatically a lesbian. I have no idea her sexual preference, I just can't stand the way she looks as a rock performer.

I didn't. I loved them immediately. Morrissey in '91 was the second best concert I've ever been to in my life, second only to The Smiths in '86 with Craig Gannon in the band.
They were slated in the UK for years, by the music press, Most of the fans didn't give a shit, they were happy to see M The lads were a "vibes" band, but nobody really thought they were that good at playing. at the time. I don't think M did, he has said as much. " everyone said they couldn't play and maybe they couldn't at first " or something the feck like that
You can't blame most music people for taking the piss. You had bands like Oasis , Verve , suede , blur , Radiohead, Manics, and Longpigs knocking it out the park. M's lot seemed pretty bad in compassion, even Gene were better songwriters at times. Im not talking smack, I just think you have to look at the larger picture and in comparison to other bands in the 90s Ms bad were pretty bad.
That is what wound some of us up. M made their songs brilliant but we thought shit, imagine if he had a brilliant band behind him

Oasis were not a technically good band and even worse as performers. Of the bands mentioned, I will give it to blur who were fantastic in all aspects and super talented. Gary, Boz, Alain, and Spencer will always be my favorite no matter what. They were electric.

To put it another way, Morrissey, Gary, Alain, Boz, and Spencer in '91-92 to me was like David, Johnny, Arthur, Sylvain, and Jerry of '73-74 to Morrissey. If you know, you know.

Comparing the Lads of ‘91 to the Lads of ‘92, is like comparing Herman’s Hermits to
Led Zeppelin.

No one said they were crap. Alain never said they were crap. You are making stuff up and as others have said, you shouldn't weigh in on things you don't know or understand.
Alain described the band's 1991 form as "a bit ropey" in conversation with John Robb on Robb's podcast.

He felt they were on peak form during Your Arsenal tour, credited their improvement to working with Ronson.

Well if you have any criticism at all relating to any aspect of Morrissey or his band, please feel to express it round here. No holding back!
And if you wanna just pretend that he is a god and does no wrong and the next one is better than strangeways and Sam has a clue, please, dont hold back.
