Friday June 26 is the designated day for release of the ‘Notre-Dame’ vinyl disc. Sire Records will release four tracks, three of which appear on vinyl for the first time. The exclusive orchestrated version of ‘Notre-Dame’ was recorded in Paris, with an ensemble of stringed instruments and a conductor working under the direction of producer Joe Chiccarelli. The disc has been pressed on so-called ‘lemonade’ vinyl color, and is available worldwide.

MORRISSEY: “The orchestrated ‘Notre-dame’ should be played unendurably loud. Happy New Tears remains the star, but didn’t make the album simply because space was limited, and not because the song was considered lower-berth. The confused cocktail party intro was recorded in a haunted part of the studio in France - a Will read at midnight, that sort of villainy. Podcaster Peter McCormack interviews Restore campaigner Frank Wright who mentions Morrissey as the poet of the working class (1:39:20):-

Transcript:

There's a great song by Morrissey, who I went to see the other month and it was really quite striking because I loved him when I was younger. And he's got this song called "Nobody Loves Us" and it's heartbreaking. And there's no one like him that's consistently written, if you like, rhapsodised the isolation and almost good humoured, permanent despair of the plight of the working class in this country, than Morrissey. He's our poet and he's sung our song for years.
