On Saturday, Savastano — the curator of a virtual gallery called the Smiths Museum — will present a one-day exhibition at his alma mater, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band’s third album, “The Queen Is Dead.” The show will feature more than 250 items (artwork, clothing, ephemera) spread across 13 exhibits, as well as the massive 40-foot backdrop that accompanied the band on its 1986 tour.

Savastano is expecting visitors from across the country and beyond. It’s a testament to the ongoing appeal of the band that changed his own life, he said recently.

Smiths Themed Foley Fest 18th July, Twickenham in memory of a Smiths Fan

Aine Magee, AKA Miss Foley, died in November 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Aine was a much-loved wife and mother to two teenagers. Aine was also a teacher and taught for nearly 30 years. She spent over 20 years teaching at the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School (CVMS)

Alongside her family, friends and her work, Aine loved her music so we have organised Foley Fest on Saturday 18th July 2026. CVMS have offered us their iconic grounds in the shadow of Twickenham Stadium. We are raising money for Marie Curie West London Rapid Response Service.

The Smiths were Aine’s favourite band and were a continuous thread throughout her life, therefore, we are delighted and grateful to announce that The Joneses have agreed to headline. The Joneses are legends amongst the worldwide community of Smiths fans where they are renowned both for their stripped down and dramatic tribute based...
