Why can't our boy do an interview/release an album like this dude?

His lack of professionalism, for a start. It’s a constant stream of embarrassment. It never ends. From his label drama, to M Central, to interviewing himself, to stuff like the Der Spiegel stuff, to the Paris single, to the cancellations.

And you don’t have to be dull to be able to carry yourself with dignity. You hardcores can’t seem to grasp that. Behaving like a f***ing idiot could be cute when you’re 23, but not when you’re a pensioner.
That is your OPINION. And a bit of a negative one, in my opinion.

Morrissey is no Robert Smith, Morrissey behaves like a low class thug - worlds apart. Robert is beloved for a reason.
Maybe people could stop talking about Morrisseys horrid and aberrant behavior if he stopped behaving horrid and aberrant. Tony Wilson talked about it a long time ago, he warned everyone about Morrissey and what kind of person he is.
Morrissey was never going to have the same kind of career as Robert because no one can stand Morrissey and he can't work with anyone without all the drama.
It's kind of hilarious that this thread even exists 'wah wah why can't Morrissey have what Robert has' the millions of reasons are obvious.
You hiss and groan and you constantly moan but you never go away, that’s because all you need is Moz.

Well, it was an account for my personal position, so it’s pretty obviously my opinion.

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and Gregor Samsa at least states his eloquently. However it's completely false to say 'no one can stand Morrissey', as usual you are making emotional generalisations and presenting them as fact. Which is quite surprising for someone who claims to be a lawyer.

Moz > Cure in my book but I'm still a big Cure fan. This is a great interview; just pre-ordered the new album on cassette. Anyway this is an incredible interview and it makes me wish Morrissey would take this same tack.

would be nice.

I think we can all agree that Morrissey has many problems. But being like Robert Smith is not one of them. ;)

I don’t know. I think he would benefit greatly from being humble, intelligent and generous. Not to mention aging beautifully as a creative force. 😉😉

...looking like a 65 year old man wearing lip stick. And Mr Smith has actually been accused of doing 'appalling' things, to use your word. The accusations don't seem to have gone anywhere, good luck to the guy. I'm all for innocent until proven guilty. And yet here you are extolling the guy and condemning Morrissey who has never been accused of doing anything 'appalling' in his life. Funny that.

I think the allegations were proven to be a hoax, if you are referring to the alleged case of abuse.

So he's still one of the good guys of the industry.

Do you recall, during the open letter hoo hah of 2022, when journo Dave Haslam told Fiona Dodwell via Twitter that he and Marr knew some rather unsavoury things about morrissey that would end his career if published? (I believe David Baddiel echoed these sentiments as well)

Well, there's a very interesting video on YouTube of your near-30 year old man flirting aggressively with a 16/17 year old lad by the name of Shaun Duggan live on British TV.

They first met when the boy was 15.

Yeah, there was no basis or substance to those allegations, and I think you might be the only one still clinging on to them. How sad and weird of you to bring it up now, just because someone says they prefer him over Moz.
And you’re still harping on about semantics. Like I said, the word can be used in different contexts. Furthermore, I used it to describe my personal feelings towards Moz. Let it go. You just have to accept that some people prefer RS to Moz and that some people think Moz has behaved appallingly

If so... Where do you see flirting happening?

I've watched a lot of Morrissey's interviews and he always carries himself in a similar manner to how he is in this video. He must be flirting with everyone then?

Also, @gashonthenail, I didn’t write what I did to provoke you or any other fan, yet you (and only you) were seemingly provoked greatly. Everyone else seems to accept the fact that I feel the way I do regarding RS and Moz. And I went to great lengths to describe how and why in a civil manner. But you can’t let it go, just like you can’t let anything go. But I strongly advise that you do. There are many people out there who don’t agree with you. Learn to live with it.

I've seen and read many moronic things in my life but THIS got to top it off. You're reaching. Who in their right mind watched this video and thought that this was in any way pedophilic or that M is 'flirting' doh:. Duggan was just a massive fan who wrote a play inspired by a Smiths song. I heard he's still a fan to this day - correct me if I'm wrong though.

If this is bait, congratulations you've got yourself a bite. I've got a huge exam in a few hours but here I am logging in just to say what a dumbf*** you are.

I'm not one for lots of self-disclosure, but I met him back then and have crossed paths more recently.
Shaun, to this day, speaks highly of Morrissey. This is a load of bull pucky.
His initial support of a young writer may well have contributed to Shaun's subsequent writing career.
There was never one iota of rumour about this - it is simply someone spinning the Haslam "I know something" nonsense in to something it isn't (or ever was).
Regards,
FWD.

That's good. As I say, good luck to the guy. But if he has been the subject of allegations that haven't gone anywhere - that puts him in the same boat as Russell Brand, doesn't it? And puts him in a lesser boat to Kevin Spacey - who had allegations against him disproved beyond reasonable doubt in court. And yet Mr Spacey no longer has a career. Now that would meet my definition of 'appalling'.

A truly horrible post, noticeably under an 'anonymous' designation. Morrissey had a positive influence on Shaun Duggan's life and to suggest anything else actually says more about the poster's character than anything else.
As FWD posted on this site in 2019, an excerpt from a Guardian interview:

https://www.morrissey-solo.com/thre...the-people’s-history-of-lgbtq-britain.144485/

Shaun Duggan: writer, Liverpool

"It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he changed my life," Shaun Duggan says of Morrissey. Growing up on the Norris Green council estate in Liverpool, Duggan, who is now 41, was bullied at home and at school – "I was probably just a bit too sensitive and effeminate for my own good" – and he found solace in the Smiths, particularly in their first couple of albums, when he was 14 or 15. "It just got me at the right time really, when you're at that age when you don't know who or what you are."

Duggan had always wanted to be a writer and within a year of his first encounter with the Smiths he had written a play called William, after "William It Was Really Nothing". In 1986, when he was 16, it won a competition at the Royal Court's Young Writers' festival and was staged at the theatre theatre. The play's success, which Duggan saw as "the only possible escape route", led to introductions to Morrissey and the band and ultimately to friendship. The first time they met was at London's Brixton Academy in 1986, at what was to be the Smiths' last live performance. "I remember at one point being the only person in the whole auditorium with the Smiths live on stage running through their songs. It was very surreal."

The play wasn't all good news: when it was performed, the bullying escalated and bricks were thrown through Duggan's window. He was placed under police protection. Throughout, Morrissey would write him letters, encouraging him in his writing. "I remember one in particular where he said, 'As they're hammering nails into your kidneys, you hereby earn your qualifications to write.'"

What's interesting is the timing of posts like this. Along with the Gov document. Whenever Morrissey is preparing to tour or is releasing new music or work, or even for song or album polls, certain posters, often rarely or never registered before, pile in on this space with negative allegations and insinuations to sow doubt and distaste in people's minds. And they seem to get a warm welcome. Nasty business, whatever is going on behind the scenes :poop::barf:
