The Rolling People - "Please Please Please, Let Me Get What I Want" (Cover)

The Rolling People - formed in Stockport, Greater Manchester - are on the rise with a show coming up at The Ritz in Manchester (scene of the first Smiths show?) and have recently paid their dues to Morrissey and Marr with a cover of 'Please Please Please, Let Me Get What I Want' for the city's XS Manchester station.

Check it out here:

Who are The Rolling People?

At just 18 years old, Stockport-based ‘TRP’ have taken the indie music scene in their stride. Gaining a reputation for energised performances, and feral crowds to match, The Rolling People have earned their reputation as the next ‘must-see’ act with repeated sold out shows across the country.

Recently coined as ‘Manchester’s next greatest success’ by Northern Exposure Magazine, The Rolling People already have an unmatched reputation for delivering stunning live performances, which match the band’s captivating melodies accompanied by soaring choruses, something which has been recognised with spot plays on BBC Radio 6 (Chris Hawkins) plus Amazing Radio and more.

After selling out their entire debut headline tour of the UK in 2023, The Rolling People quickly announced their return to performing live in 2024, with 3 headline shows on sale in Nottingham, London and Glasgow, as well as an unmissable hometown show at the O2 Ritz Manchester in December, which will also mark their anniversary of 3 years as a band. They released their long-awaited debut EP in August.

The Rolling People is also a fantastic song by The Verve. I’ll make sure to check these lads out.
I thought it was a good version and Yeah mate, that has got to be where they got the name from. Not into the Verve myself but I do remember that song. I saw them at Oasis gig at Earls Court, I think. Amazing show. Great fecking live band.
I was not into Oasis and Verve but when you saw them live they made more sense.
It really made M seem like old news, much like the Rolling Stones and Beatles made Elvis seem past it . I don't say it to be cruel to M . You can see how popular Liam has been, especially in the UK , that he is Machester's true son. I prefer M and Smiths, but Oasis blow them out the water in terms of worldwide fan base, there is no way on Earth Smiths would have got this much press, all over the World, and at no stage in M's solo career was he ever as popular in the UK/ Ireland as Liam.

I know I fecking bang on about this but I have always thought its so fecking sad that M worked with the idiots from Green Day and Red Hot Chilli Peppers etc and turned down talents who understand him like Noel and Damon Alabrn, imagine working with Rocky over them, It will not improve his standing, just like his Supreme shirt pic, didn'r

Whilst they were happy to agitate rivals, and had bravado in spades, they studiously avoided any real controversy in their music. The commercial benefits of the strategy are undeniable, but—hangovers and haircuts aside—they didn’t affect people in the way Morrissey has. Artistically, the latter is in a different league.

I felt that, whatever reasonable points may have been made in that article, they were sunk by the hilariously hysterical non-objectivity of the author.

Truly wish i hadn’t clicked on this and bothered to listen to it. And WHAT is going on with his weird country western twang??

Please please please never asked to be ruined like this. Sad

This cover absolutely sucks. Most Smiths/Morrissey covers do.
When i listen to something like this and then i re-read all of the positive comments that a bunch of random weirdos wrote that drove me to watch it in the first place, looking at the comments again i mean just to make double sure i didn’t just accidentally imagine to myself that they were all positive, then when they’re really all still there it just makes me feel like i’m having an out of body experience. Not in a good way.

Isn't that the case for most things in the mainstream?
