FWD.

Yeah, but aside from Wolverhampton (which arguably was a hybrid Smiths/Morrissey gig), he wouldn't play any Smiths on the Kill Uncle and YA tours. It was only on the UK Boxers tour that he returned to playing Smiths songs, with Shoplifters as the encore.
Wolverhampton '88 is post Smiths. I just don't buy your "hybrid" Smiths theory.

Lol it's not much of a theory, just a throwaway note that everyone on stage at Wolverhampton had been in the Smiths. Agreed it was a solo gig -- and the only solo gig at which Morrissey would play a Smiths song until seven years later, in 1995.

Same here.
That Drummer and bassist are doing some heavy lifting carrying the whole band.
M needs a whole new band in fact, maybe his career would lift up again commercially speaking, which it's something that he really would love, record deal, promotion, videos, radio airplay, etc. Heaven knows this band can't do that for him.

I would not be opposed to see Morrissey make some radical moves, dump everyone and get an entirely new band lineup every couple of years - especially if he's struggling to break through and get a record contract. That said, I'm not sure the band is the main sticking point in that area, but more likely Morrissey himself. No matter what quality of music his co-writers give him, if he's going to pen lyrics like 'Notre Dame' then his commercial options for record deals and airplay are going to be severely limited.

So we agree '95 was not the first time Morrissey as a solo artist played a Smiths song live. Sweet!

Wonder if Alain and Gustavo are second guessing themselves...still not quite sure they left...
Alain reacted about that find out for your self, the Whyte has an own facebook group, 1 thing he's still on good terms with Morrissey, meanwhile busy with own work, Alain Whyte Starband, with Spencer and Gary [I thought], things might have changed.

Auckland hooray.
Wellington next ???? 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I hope Moz and his new band have a long run of safe and happy performances. I also hope the band improves over time with each successive gig. In my opinion they need to step up their game, and the verdict is still out. That last run of shows with Alain were so sublime. For an old-school Moz fan like myself it was so obvious that Alain is/was the missing ingredient, but if Moz feels more comfortable with a younger, more anonymous band, so be it.

You have a point, you're certainly in the right. Nonetheless the whole band its the worst he has had.

Does anyone know how to register for presale tickets in Australia??
I've never registered as you put it. I just wake up in time for the sale and hope for the best. What do you mean by register?

Also I just realised he's doing two nights at the State Theatre.

"Fortitude Valley" is just a suburb in Brisbane, so it should really say "Brisbane, Australia" here:
