Morrissey A-Z: "Spring-Heeled Jim"

I bought this album when it was new. It was spring in Gothenburg and as I came out of the record shop a guy had been hit by a car on the road. It was bad. The paramedics took their time.

I went home to this huge room, big as a small two bedroom flat, that I rented at the time and I put the cd into the player. It stayed there for weeks.

I fell in love with the album immediately and this song was probably my top favourite. Never, not before or after, have Moz sung Lalala with such sad beauty. Not sure anyone has.

The song's darkness pulls you along. Kind of scary in a way, still it's comforting.

I think this was the first time I experienced Moz as a friend. Basically; it made me a fan.
