Back to back posts of posers with no charm whatsoever? I need a cleansing.

And a funny tweet from Mike...

this is too funny :lbf: by the way, are marr and joyce on good terms now? if not, it must be weird that joyce was there (not saying he shouldn't)

Truly awful. The Last Shadow Puppets are awful. Too much coke and not enough choons.
And they say Morrissey is pissing his legacy away... Johnny Marr with his dyed hair and cameo appearances isn't far behind.

Heres a cover of The Fall Totally Wired too. Oh my f***ing eyes and ears

What on earth is that. I used to listen to the fall a lot and that sounds nothing like totally wired.

Johnny doing pain-by-numbness geetar, and some twat singing his nose out. Add a few spoons of baking soda to those flying coke boogers; a few minutes in the microwave; and you've got CRACK, kids. Enjoy!

Together or not, for two people or a stadium I'm glad to see everyone still playing at all. Alain morrissey marr even Joyce just watching they all still obviously love music and its endearing. Life is short

Last I heard, they were on fairly distant, but not actively hostile terms (which I guess you could say the same about Moz and Johnny). I remember Mike actually emailed Johnny an interview question in some music magazine a couple of years back, and Johnny replied without hurling insults, but also mentioned he hadn't seen him in ages.

Following up on my own post, this video puts a primary problem with many covers of Smiths songs in stark relief -- lack of emotion. Too often it ends up being about trying too hard to put an original spin on the vocals (This Charming Man cover from the other day), imitating the original as best as possible, or worst of all -- performing for the benefit of their own ego (which is how this clip comes across). The emotions that are the bedrock of Morrissey's original singing are nowhere to be heard. There are exceptions.
I whole heartedly agree.

Also I love Johnny Marr and his 2 albums and have seen him twice live but I don't get why he still does these one song appearances for other bands these days. Even with Marr's not so great vocals at times I'd much rather hear him sing Smiths' songs than any of these lack lustre posers.

I love the Puppets & Monkeys but there's way too much guitar and not enough of piano/strings on this. They should've done Unhappy B'day or summat else.

Nobody can sing the Smiths songs better than the one and only. Is somebody paying these so-called musicians to butcher what Morrissey so effortlessly mastered?

Morrissey is pretty famous for mastering nothing as a musician.

Really, people should take it waaaaaay more easier Smihts covers. It's just a band or artist playing their own favourite song at a gig. It's not a contest. Some of them are better some of them are not. Just like Morrissey playing Bowie or Roxy Music....i mean, his version of ''Streetlife''...
