I think Mozzy could get record deal soon
His UK tour was a success. His Sinead post scored him untold public praise. Praple have had enough of Dave Hazlam and Billy Bragg riding his coat tails.
All he needs to do is keep on keeping on
get a documentary made to go with this tour
Mix footage through the years and a good interview. Get a good director, not Sammy
Get that played on Netflix, Showtime or whatever. Release live lp on download only
Get a buzz going, by this time next year he will have a label
If you think any of that is going to happen, you don’t know Mozzy very well.
As for the Sinéad O’Connor thing, most of the ‘support’ was for what was said, not the person saying it. There were loads of tweets, comments etc. saying they agreed with the content of what was said, just a shame it was Morrissey saying it. #LoveTheSmithsHateMorrissey was even trending for a while yesterday afternoon on Twitter. He’s one mis-step away from being permanently cancelled. Not even Nerak will be able to save him then (though that won’t stop her trying).

Great news. Can only be a matter of time before Skinny is on to tell us it's only ever been about the money.
He’s obviously too busy working for free.
All the gigs will sell out, of course. Whether he turns up to all the gigs is another matter altogether.
As for all those posting setlists and speculating what the “40 years of Morrissey” might mean… it means nothing. He will continue to play 19 (20, if you’re lucky) of the same 25 songs he has played for the last few of tours. Some nights, he might change up the order of those 19 songs, so that’s something to look forward to at least.

You’ve got everything now / What difference does it make / I want the one I can’t have / There is a light that never goes out / I started something I couldn’t finish / late night, maudlin street / lucky lisp / mute witness / I know it’s gonna happen someday / now my heart is full / nobody loves us / lost / I like you / life is a pigsty / something is squeezing my skull / art hounds / spent the day in bed / morning starship / once I saw the river clean / rebels without applause
My favourite one so far.

I'd change Rebels for Veronica personally, but a great setlist :-)

Never understood this stupid #LoveTheSmithsHateMorrissey bollocks, how can you love The Smiths but hate Morrissey? If you hated him that much surely you couldn't listen to the Smiths anymore? Well i couldn't.
Its like saying #LovePeachesAndCreamHatePeaches, innit?

It could also be about the music. I love the music of the Smiths waaaay more than solo Morrissey.

I hate both peaches and cream.
I think people just go for the #LoveXHateY thing because it’s easier than #LoveMorrisseysWorkWithTheSmithsAndHisEarlierSoloStuffButHeSeemsToHaveBecomeABitMentalInHisOldAgeAndSomeOfTheThingsHeSaysAreXenophobicAndBorderlineRacistAndNowHeIsIntoRightWingConspiracyTheories

And if you use that hashtag, you are almost guaranteed to get one of these in your replies:

This is false advertising!
Moz current touring guitar players can't even play the greatest hits!
Who wants to hear "Chug Rock" power chord strumming versions of the classics?

If Alain's current band was backing Moz then it would for sure be a true greatest hits tour.
On the whole the current band have been excellent.

True i spose, but much harder to type tho.

Was Morrissey ever demonised in the press because of his sexuality? I wouldnt say so really, everything else yes, tbh ive never been interested in who shags what or who, not my business and i couldnt care less. Its all about the music for me.

It's a whole theory that our erstwhile friend Karen has been working on for a few years now, that a bunch of NME (mostly) journos in the 80s and early 90s were laddish to the point of trying to ruin Morrissey's career because he didn't fit in with their hetero agenda. The tragedy is that there's quite possibly a grain of truth in it but she takes it to such extreme and obsessive lengths that it ends up being laughable. If you want to learn about it, do visit her Twitter and her website for Moz research.

I like Malarkey, and I do think there's a lot to be said about latent homophobia in the music press and how Morrissey was treated (considering how the far more laddish Britpop stars were treated like royalty with all the Union Flag waving) - this is something I've discussed with my friend who isn't a Morrissey fan, but who is sympathetic to the idea that he was treated badly due to the attitudes of a heteronormative music press (as well as the "traditional" press) over the years. You only have to look at how OBSESSED and weirded out they were by his sexuality, or lack thereof.

However, like the overwhelming majority of people on this website (perhaps myself included) she needs to stop being so fixated and get a life.

Thats possible, i think at that time in the late 80s early 90s is when Morrissey started to really become more isolated musically etc than he was before, by that i mean you had the madchester stuff and lad culture starting. I think there was a top 40 chart where in one week you had The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays suddenly entering high, and there was Morrissey with his quaint little ditty about ouija boards, he suddenly seemed totally disconnected from the other trendy manc acts who were on their way up.
Suddenly not the top NME favourite, which was great considering the piss weak rag it was shortly to become.

They gave him several front covers after that, although the reviews of his records weren't great.

He got a bit of a hard time because he wouldn’t just admit he was gay. But no more than any other gay man in music at the time; look at what the likes of Boy George had written/said about him at the time, and for decades afterwards. Have you seen the Channel 4 George Michael documentary that came out a few months ago, and the hell he went through with the press? Remember when they started the rumour that Michael Stipe had AIDS to try to force him to come out?
The press was laddish, loutish and vicious back then. But that was the culture. You could openly call someone a poof; gay was an insult; comedians were blacking-up; there was casual racism all over the place; there were young girls with their tits out in the national newspapers; Nuts magazine, Zoo magazine were all the rage… Morrissey wasn’t their only victim. The reason he got lambasted for the flag-waving thing and others didn’t is because they didn’t also have songs like Bengali In Platforms and Asian Rut, they hadn’t called reggae music vile… to blame all of his woes today on a few articles from 30+ years ago is absolutely laughable. To do it incessantly, all over Twitter, at all hours of the day and night, is absolutely demented.

She (Nerak) wants to come across as an investigative journalist and writer, but she’s no such thing (spending all day in bed reading old NMEs then listing Writer as your occupation on your Twitter profile does not make it so, Nerak).
She’s a deluded Morrissey nutter; no different than the obsessive Michael Jackson fans who excuse his paedophilia, image obsession and oddball behaviour by saying, “awww, but Michael never had a childhood!” Calling him ‘Michael’ and talking like they knew him intimately because they knew all of his songs word-for-word and had a few t-shirts. That’s all Nerak is; a deluded fantasist who will excuse all of Morrissey’s shit and blame others for his downfall because, deep down, she fancies him and wants to mother him.

Record companies don't care how many tickets he sells. His physical albums barely register sales wise and haven't for a lot of years. Looks more sad and desperate with every post.

How many artists actually sell many albums these days? Hardly any. It's 2023 and its mainly downloads now. The singles market is completely dead

Here’s the setlist I’m anticipating for the 40 years tour:

Suedehead / Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before / I Wish You Lonely / Sure Enough, The Telephone Rings / Our Frank / Istanbul / I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris / Girlfriend In A Coma / The Loop / The Night Pop Dropped / How Soon Is Now? / Irish Blood, English Heart / Bonfire Of Teenagers / Everyday Is Like Sunday / Without Music The World Dies / Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want / Jack The Ripper // Speedway
In an ideal world that gig would be actually and forcefully stopped in the midst of the second song.

Here's what I need:

Get Off The Stage/Papa Jack/Tony The Pony/He Cried/Asian Rut/Who Will Protect Us From The Police?/Journalists Who Lie/Kick The Bride Down The Aisle/All The Lazy Dykes/Lady Willpower/The Harsh Truth Of The Camera Eye/Found Found Found/Satellite Of Love/Golden Lights/Redondo Beach/That's How People Grow Up/Rebels Without Applause (played exactly as recorded)
get off the stage and disappoint tens of thousands of fans patiently waiting in south america.
