Legendary ex-drummer of The Smiths MIKE JOYCE will be playing a selection of his favourite SMITHS tracks and giving his own personal insight into each track

To be broadcast on EAST VILLAGE RADIO Thursday 13th October 2011 3pm -5pm (GMT)

MIKE JOYCE: “Ok folks, I said last week that I was going to play a few select tracks from The Smiths new box set, "Complete" which has just been released on Rhino Records.
The idea of playing a “few” has gone out the window because I found it just too difficult to choose, but I’ve been whittling away and I've finally managed to get it down to 24 tracks, which is a rather convenient 2 hours...The same time as the show!
So next week (13th October) The Coalition Chart Show will have a week off and we're going...

Just spotted the article below on the Word magazine forum. It seems Morrissey's nephew turned up at the recent book launch in Manchester and read a statement by Morrissey criticising the book?

It's an interesting, short, piece, especially at the end:

Marr refuses to talk about the 1996 court case which saw Joyce take Morrissey and Marr to court over royalties (Morrissey and Marr took most of The Smiths' recording and performance royalties and allowed ten per cent each to Joyce and Rourke.) He confesses: "I don't like getting too serious. And I don't want to be disrespectful because they were my mates. I have nothing but great fondness for The Smiths. When I left I felt relieved but did it at the right time.

"I last saw Morrissey a couple of years ago and we hung out for an afternoon and it was pretty funny.

"I'm going to be hanging out with and maybe playing with Andy soon and then getting an email now and...​

Following a sold out tour of Europe and the UK, Morrissey recently announced a North American tour. The show at Puebla, Mexico’s Auditorio del Complejo Cultural Universitario has become the fastest selling pop concert in the city’s history and his two nights at Mexico City’s Plaza Condesa are sold out. Many of the US dates have also already sold out including his date at the legendary Shrine Auditorium which sold out in twenty minutes, his fastest selling Los Angeles concert in twelve years. The performance at Pomona’s Fox Theater also sold out in twenty minutes. The tour begins November 10 in Chicago and concludes December 13 in Guadalajara, Mexico. He will be performing songs from throughout his unparalleled catalog including new unreleased tracks. Morrissey will also do two major US television appearances while in November.
