On Sunday I'll see THE THE for the first time ever. Supporting them are a Dublin band called 'A Lazarus Soul'. The band got the name from the singer/songwriter who nearly died as a baby and then survived cancer at the age of 14. His masterful mix of melancholia and melody reminds me of Morrissey, in spirit at least. Their new album is called 'no flowers grow in cement gardens'. For me it is album of the year.
'The Dealers' is about the women selling fruit & veg & various products on the stalls on Moore Street in Dublin. I can't listen to this song without misting up.
Factory Fada is an Irish take on the brutality of the education system at the hands of a violent teacher. It captures the sentiment of The Headmaster Ritual. Epic.
