Strange/unexpected Moz references?

The Smiths song that left both Johnny Marr and Morrissey furious: “Hiding it away on a B-side was sinful”

“Heaven knows I’m miserable now”: The five most depressing songs by The Smiths

Almost as 'depressing' as repetitive Far Out articles..

Everyday Is Like Sunday was played loud and proud in the stadium just before the second half of the Newcastle Utd v Bromley FA Cup tie today.

It was live via the red button on the BBC.
Rob Byron (stadium announcer) is a fan, I used to buy my Smiths/Morrissey records from him in the late 90's when he owned Steel Wheels in Pilgrim Street.

Not forgetting the banner from that scene provided the matrix message for Bigmouth Strikes Again (12", A-side).

Safe to say it's a very formative film for Morrissey.

FWD.

Watched that film a hundred times and never would have heard it was used as a sample, though I always wondered what that was at the beginning of Sheila. Street seems to have down pitched it to fit in with the key of the guitars, so it works. Amazing that Morrissey had that bit in the back of his mind and imagined that it would work somewhere or at least worth trying as a sample. Why he picked Sheila, or maybe there was talk in the studio during mixing that the song’s intro needed something a little extra? Very cool, thanks!
