I seem to remember a tiny interview snippet at the time of release, where Venables said something like he was honoured to be on the cover, but had no idea why he was on the sleeve.

Venables was our coach for our National team the Socceroos so there's plenty of affection for him down under too. I've always loved the Dagenham Dave sleeve too! I have the 7 inch vinyl also.
