Feel free to let the band members know about the tour...
Charlie writes: I just received an e-mail from Boz, and he said that he had not heard of the shows in Oct. and that my e-mail was the first he had heard of them.

Clearwater, FL - purchase advanced tickets by becoming a member
karionie writes: For any fans in and around Clearwater, FL: My husband called the venue and discovered that you can buy tickets for this gig in advance by becoming a member of Ruth Eckerd Hall. It'll cost you $35 extra, but if you want an excellent choice of seats, including those coveted, sweaty, getting-kicked-in-the-face orchestra pit seats... Tickets are available NOW for members.

Athens, GA - 400 Watt?
An anonymous person writes: I talked to the booking agent for the 40 Watt in Athens yesterday. She said they have Morrissey confirmed, I couldn't get a date, but the 30th does seem logical. Tickets for this show will most likely be sold locally only, as is usually the policy.

Sweden date?
Per writes: Micke at Arenan in Stockholm confirms that Morrissey has been booked for a gig at Arenan, the same venue he played at in Sweden last fall.

Found in the L.A. Times Sunday (Aug. 19) Calender section:
Hootie & the Blowfish aren't going to let a little thing like an extended band vacation stop them from releasing a group album. The band--which contrary to rampant rumors has not broken up--is preparing "Scattered, Smothered & Covered," a collection of B-sides and rarities all written by other performers for release Oct. 24 on Atlantic Records.

But the band needs some help from its fans. The group has picked 10 tracks for the album. For the remaining five, it is asking fans to vote among eight tracks, including Led Zeppelin's "Hey Hey What Can I Do" and the Smiths' "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want."

To vote go to http://www.hootie.com/unshocked/album/
Here's a soundclip of the Hootie cover (36 sec. wav format), as provided on the Budweiser voting page.

While flipping through the pages of the September 2000 issue of Maxim magazine, I came across this picture in their fashion section which they've titled "Rebellious Behavior - Preppy Punk: Be bad or just look like it in this fall's most vicious clothes." (scan) The caption under the picture reads: "Checked kilt, $695, by Classic Burberry; T-shirt (referring to The Smiths one), $78, by Lascaux at Intermix; ..." Didn't know The Smiths were Punk?

And from Jay, more on the same Rank shirt from the August 2000 edition of In Style magazine: "Making the cut" (scan)
