This film is asserted by Len Brown to be an influence on Morrissey - stating:

"Later in his solo career, Morrissey released the single ‘Alma Matters’, partly based on Dean’s uncredited performance in the John Wayne movie Trouble Along The Way (1953). The film’s original title was Alma Mater. Silent images of Davalos and Dean in a screen test for the film would be screened before Morrissey’s 2006 tour."

(Note: Brown may be misremembering this as the footage used in 2006 of the silent screen test was for East Of Eden).
