Tony Visconti
Relevance
Visconti was asked to produce The Queen Is Dead, but declined.
As described in Autobiography:
Pain continues as a source of inspiration. Back in darkness, we begin recording The Queen is Dead. Geoff had interestingly suggested George Martin as a producer – which is one of Geoff’s very rare magnanimous proposals. George Martin declines, saying that he only wants to be known for his work with the Beatles. Johnny and I then have tea with Tony Visconti, most famously associated with the supremely noble works of T. Rex and David Bowie, but after our meeting Tony also declines.
Visconti covered You Have Killed Me at City Winery, NYC (January 3, 2015) - no known footage.

Profile
Tony Visconti is an American record producer, musician and singer, born April 24, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York. In the 1960s, he was a well-known lounge guitarist, as well as on the New York nightclub scene. In 1966 he became in-house producer for his publisher, The Richmond Organization. In 1968 he met and was invited by British producer Denny Cordell to come to London and assist him in producing Georgie Fame. Moving to London was a big change in careers. Since the late 1960s, he has worked with an array of mainly British performers. He had his first hit with Ride A White Swan in 1970. His lengthiest involvement was with David Bowie: Intermittently from the production and arrangement of Bowie's 1968 single "In the Heat of the Morning" / "London Bye Ta-Ta" to the 2016 release "Blackstar", Visconti produced and occasionally performed on many of Bowie's albums. He was married to Siegrid Visconti. After divorcing her, he married Mary Hopkin from 1971 until they divorced in 1981; the pair has two children, Jessica Lee Morgan and Morgan Visconti. In 1989, he married his third wife, May Pang; they had two children before they divorced in 2000. Currently living together with his girlfriend Kristeen Young.
