From "MILEY IS A PUNK ROCKER" - Morrissey Central (December 24, 2022):
Miley Cyrus now wants to be taken off the song ‘I Am Veronica’ for which she volunteered backing vocals almost two years ago. This comes at a time when Morrissey has disassociated himself with Capitol Records (Los Angeles), who control the hidden album ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’.
The recorded background vocals can be heard in some live versions of the song in 2022.
From "WHEN YOU ARE THE QUARRY" - Morrissey Central (January 6, 2023):
...I have been invited onto U.S. and U.K television news outlets to discuss the situation with Miley and 'Bonfire of teenagers', but of course, there's no point. In truth, Miley has backed off for reasons unconnected to me, having had a major clash with a key figure in 'the circle'. I cannot give any details about the private fight because … it is private, after all.
Miley knew everything about me when she arrived to sing 'I Am Veronica' almost two years ago; she walked into the studio already singing the song. She volunteered. I did not ask her to get involved. Her professionalism was astounding, her vocals a joy to behold. Every minute that I spent with Miley was loving and funny. She asked if she could be in the 'Veronica' video. I was very honored. She told me that Morrissey songs are on 24-hour rotation in her house, and she had frequently been photographed in Morrissey t-shirts. Miley came into my world; I did not venture towards hers. I was eternally thankful, and even now, I remain so.
Covered "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" live in 2014.

Miley Ray Cyrus ( MY-lee SY-rəs, born Destiny Hope Cyrus; November 23, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Regarded as a pop icon, Cyrus has been recognized for her evolving artistry and image reinventions. She is a daughter of singer Billy Ray Cyrus, and deemed one of the few examples of a child star with a successful entertainment career as an adult. Cyrus emerged as a teen idol as the title character in the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana (2006–2011), which evolved into a commercially successful franchise. As Hannah Montana, she achieved success on the Billboard charts with two number-one soundtracks. Cyrus's solo career started with the US number-one pop rock albums Meet Miley Cyrus (2007) and Breakout (2008). Her EP The Time of Our Lives (2009) reached number two in the US. Its lead single "Party in the U.S.A." became one of the best-selling singles of all time, later becoming certified 14-times platinum in the US. Trying to establish a mature image, she explored dance-pop in Can't Be Tamed (2010), which received mixed reviews. Cyrus later signed to RCA Records and took a new artistic direction with the hip hop and R&B-influenced Bangerz (2013). Her fifth chart-topping album, it yielded the hit single "We Can't Stop" and her first Billboard Hot 100 number-one "Wrecking Ball". She then dabbled in experimental music on Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), embraced country pop on Younger Now (2017), and delved into rock genres on Plastic Hearts (2020). Shifting to Columbia Records in 2021, Cyrus released her eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation (2023). Its lead single "Flowers" became internationally successful, marking her second US number-one song, and winning two Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year. As an actress, Cyrus starred in the films Bolt (2008), Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), The Last Song (2010), LOL (2012), and So Undercover (2013). On television, she was the subject of the documentary Miley: The Movement (2013), led the miniseries Crisis in Six Scenes (2017), served as a coach on two seasons of The Voice (2016–2017), and starred in the "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too" episode of Black Mirror (2019). She also hosted the holiday special Miley's New Year's Eve Party (2021–2022). Cyrus has received various accolades, including three Grammy Awards, one Brit Award, five Billboard Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, eight Guinness World Records. She was named Disney Legend, in recognition for her contributions to The Walt Disney Company. Cyrus was ranked as one of the greatest artists of all time, the ninth-greatest Billboard 200 female artist, and among the greatest pop stars of the 21st century by Billboard and is the eighth-highest-certified female digital singles artist by the RIAA. She has featured in listicles such as the Time 100 (2008 and 2014), Forbes Celebrity 100 (2010 and 2015), and 30 Under 30 (2014 and 2021). Outside of entertainment, Cyrus founded the non-profit Happy Hippie Foundation in 2014, which focuses on the LGBTQ community and youth homelessness, and was supported by the web video series Backyard Sessions (2012–2023).
