Mark Lee Romanek (; born September 18, 1959) is an American director. He is known for his music videos, which have earned him three Grammy Awards for Best Short Form Music Video (more than any other director) and 20 MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Direction for Jay-Z's "99 Problems" and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. He has also been recognized for his photography, taking pictures of numerous celebrities over the years, and had 30 of his photographs exhibited by French luxury retailer Colette in 2017. Romanek's film work includes co-writing and directing the comedy-drama Static (1985), writing and directing the psychological thriller One Hour Photo (2002), and directing the dystopian romantic drama Never Let Me Go (2010). He has also directed and/or executive produced episodes of the series The Whispers (2015), Vinyl (2016), and Tales from the Loop (2020).
