With all
the recent talk of Johnny Marr's new solo project, I thought
it was a good time to share a gem I received several years
ago. This is a clip
of an instrumental "demo" of "Walking Down
Madison" (:30, 475k mp3) which Johnny wrote for
Kirsty
MacColl (who later added lyrics and took half the
writing credits; the song was produced by Steve Lillywhite
back in 1991).
This early version of the song sounds very little like the
final released version and more like "Money Changes
Everything" and "The Draize Train," in my
opinion. I will be offering the complete 4 minute 21 second
track shortly. Email me ([email protected])
for details. As a side note, I dropped off a copy of this
track at Morrissey's Los Angeles house on Saturday (P.S.
please do not ask for the address as it won't be available).
