The Smiths are being inducted into the US Music Hall of Fame in the near future, but friends of Morrissey have said he will snub the ceremony as he "cannot bring himself to share a stage with the other Smiths". It's likely that Marr, Rourke and Joyce will all attended showing that the court case of 1996 is now behind them and they are once again able to exist peacefully. Sadly, other people "bear more grudges than lonely high court judges".

According to sky news showbiz headlines this morning, the smiths are to be honoured in the american rock n roll hall of fame next year, it says they could be on the same stage, the quotes come from the manchester evening news, and andy rourke has quoted (i dont know what may happen we may all be there for the induction or not) if this is the case they would all be expected to give a speech followed by a once in a lifetime performance... cant see morrissey letting that happen, check out sky news.

I was on the Gibson Guitars site and came across a blog entry from 4/5/07. I had to investigate when i noticed the title said "Play Me Some Morrisssey".

Pictured is Alain Whyte playing the Nick Valensi (The Strokes) model Epiphone guitar at the Bevery Hills Gibson showroom. According to the blog he's in town doing some sessions for morrissey?

In the last may issue of French magazine "Rock and Folk", Barrie Cadogan (from band "Little Barrie") spoke about Morrissey (page 24).
Translation:

Barrie Cadogan :" When I left Nottinghamshire for London I had to make a living. So I worked for a while in a guitar shop. I became friend with some customers like Noel Gallagher to whom I sold several instruments... This was how I happened to meet Boz Boorer, who had been Morrissey's guitarist for ages. Three years ago I had a phone call from him to ask me to take over Alain Whyte who was ill. I had to learn how to play 20 songs... in just 3 days. I never really had a chance to speak with Morrissey. I remember one night he took everybody out to have some drinks after a show in Copenhagen. Of course he remained silent and did not drink a single drop of alcohol. However he insisted to pay the bill."

While surfing some personal finance sites earlier, the last place I'd expect to come across a Morrissey blurb, I came across this very interesting post:

In 1987 The Smiths wanted to release "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" as a single,but because the Hungerford Massacre had happened in the UK a couple of months before it was decided not to. Radio 1 said because of the line "to make a shy bald Buddhist reflect & plan a mass murder"they would not play it at all.

Fast forward 20 years & on the very day that Mark Ronson releases his cover version of the song a shy,bald (Buddhist?) did plan & commit mass murder.

My thoughts are with all those people who lost their lives.

Here's a thing and in no way is this meant to trivialise the tragic events at Virginia Tech on Monday, but I had a thought last night that back in 1987 The Smiths were scheduling the release of "Stop me if you think you've heard this before" as a single off the album "Strangeways Here We Come", but plans were shelved after a man went on the rampage with a shotgun in a small town in England called Hungerford where he killed 14 people. The line in the song "..make a shy, bald Buddhist reflect and plan a mass murder..." was deemed too contentious in the aftermath of the shootings so "I started something" was released instead. Now as some of you may be aware 20 years on from then Mark Ronson has released his cover of "Stop me..." and then this tragedy at Virginia Tech happens. Obviously I'm not saying that the events are in any way connected, but its a bit spooky and just made me think.
