Five years ago today, on Feb. 12, 1997, Morrissey-solo was started - some thoughts and reflections...

It appeared that about 100 Moz fans made there way to the screening last night and afterward in the question-and-answer session one fan even noted that to the Director, Przemyslaw Wojcieszek, who was quick to thank Dave Tseng for his wonderful site and publicity it generated for his film.

tibby writes: Last night (Feb. 10) I was watching "Queer as Folk" on Showtime and received a pleasant surprise. During a scene when Debbie was talking to Brian about his relationship with Justin a Smiths song could be heard playing in the background. The song was "Unloveable" .This episode will be repeated on Tuesday February 12 at 11:00 P.M. on Showtime. This is the third time a Smiths song has been associated with "Queer as Folk". "How Soon Is Now?" was used in an episode and also used in a promo for the show.

jpoofter also writes: On February 10ths episode of "Queer As Folk," the Showtime original series based on the British version, there was a scene in which the main character Brian is sitting at one of the local gay bars in Pittsburgh talking to another female character with The Smiths' "Unloveable" playing in the background. The scene was actually quite humorous because Brian is considered the show's biggest sex addict and can't quite commit to a relationship with another character, leaving him quite alone and bitter. The song must have been picked ideally for his character's unloveable qualities.

Here is what he said about The Strokes "The Modern Age", verbatim.

"I know this record very well...These are my favorite kind of drums-very straight. The ride cymbal comes in here....The chorus reminds me of Morrissey, the romantic way he delivers it...And this guitar part here-classic rock & roll."

'Hairdresser On Fire' used on BBC 1 football programme

The Magic Fairy writes: 'Football Focus' is a Saturday lunchtime football (soccer) programme on BBC 1. Today's show included a feature on Leicester City Football Club, where the man who looks after the kit (shirts, shorts etc) also acts as a barber for some of the players. 'Hairdresser On Fire' was used twice, as the man wielded his clippers.

Johny Truant also writes: Once again Morrissey makes it onto the BBC in the UK. "Hairdresser On Fire" played on an item yet again on the BBC's sports programme "Football Focus". This item was about Leicester City F.C and their current "crop" of shorthaired players. The segment wasn't up to much until the music started.

Does Morrissey get this much airplay on any other station? I think not!! Let's hope he picks up his royalties, he should be worth a fortune thanks to the BBC.
