L H writes and sends: I'm not sure this is Morrissey but it sure looks like him! It's a picture from a record sleeve to a single by Swedish artist "Håkan Hellström", and since Hellström is a famous Morrissey-fan it's quite likely that this is really Moz.

JOHNY TRUANT writes: Link to review of the reissue of Viva Hate: Reissues Choice by Rob Chapman
in this weekend's Times supplement PLAY.
"what now, big man?" indeed.--- Ruffian also notes the review received 4 out of 5 stars. Excerpt:
WHILE HIS Eighties contemporaries head for the revival circuit like so many Widow Twankies, the last of the famous international pop stars sits sulking in his LA mansion. Viva Hate, Morrissey's 1989 debut solo album, takes us back to a time when the singer's future looked so full of promise. His initial solo singles went straight to No 1 on the strength of pre-release sales and expectation alone. Alas, it all ended with the ignominy of Steven Patrick, draped in a Union Jack in Finsbury Park, discovering to his horror that the English proletariat were no more than missile-throwing Madness fans...

Dodgy writes: This week's edition of Entertainment Weekly magazine (#638, Feb. 8, 2002) in the "What to Watch" section in which an editor picks a couple of programs he wants the reader to catch. This blurb I found quite charming. In case you don't subscribe I will let you know what it says word for word:
Thurs, Feb 7th 7-8 pm
The Directors: Terry Gillam (Encore Channel)
When I saw Brazil for the first time at age 14, I didn't know what the hell was going on. Of course, at the time I also had "The Smiths" written in bleach on the back of my jean jacket, so needless to say I was a bit confused in general. Now, of course, it's one of my favorite flicks......and yet, I still kinda like Morrissey.
And there's the scoop- it is really odd that such a commentary is used for a tv show review like this. What's more odd than that is the mention in such a mainstream American magazine.

Chris writes: "Morrissey-Look-A-Like Contest"
Andrea had the idea of a Morrissey look-a-like contest, since this is done at the convention every year and only in LA, why not have a contest like this go throughout the world and let other fans join in the fun! So we are asking for your best dress up impressions of Morrissey. Use any kind of materials you would like such as fake sideburns if the ladies would like to achieve that as well. Andrea and I want this to be a fun contest for any fan of any age, race, or sex. You can even dress up your children like Morrissey who knows they might be the lucky winners.
Prizes:
Grand Prize: Autographed "West Ham Boys Club" shirt!
2nd and 3rd place: A pair of Morrissy/Smiths convention tickets or select prizes from Everythingenglish.com
4th and 5th place: A brand new Smiths/Morrissey mixed cd. Over 70 minutes of your favorite songs mixxed together on one cd.
Visit Ambitious-Outsiders.com for more details!
