R.E.M. video interview at RollingStone.com. Excerpt:
Michael Stipe: "I ran into Morrissey of all people in a parking lot and we sat and had coffee for an hour and he told me that in 1989 I told him that I thought the band was gonna break up really soon and it was all kinda over and that nothing could go on from here. And I don't recall saying that. Yesterday a journalist told me he talked to me, this Irish fellow, that he talked to me in 1989 and I told him the same thing. I just wonder, I must have had a bad week or something, I don't know what I was thinking."

On Tuesday's show (May 8), Bernerd Lenoir (our French John Peel) said that the singer of TRAVIS got a big opportunity. While he was walking in the streets in LA he met a man who said to him "Come on I offer you a beer," and he was no one other than Michael Stipe! And a few minutes after being sat in a bar Morrissey joined them and so it is like a man who got the chance to spend a whole afternoon with his two big heroes!!!

Linder Sterling gave an interview to a London correspondent of the radio and TV station B92, Relya Mirkovic, just before her performance at The ICA. First she spoke about her project - that she has found the inspiration in the person of Ann Lee (the leader of Shaker movement in Manchester), that she has actually found an essential parallel with Ann Lee and the characters from Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns, especially Clint Eastwood - The man with no name.

When asked about Morrissey - she said that their relationship is a very close one, and that they share the same ideas about their work - as if they have been "glued together" over the past 25 years, as a matter of fact that it could have easily been Morrissey doing this performance instead of her. And then she smiled mysteriously...

In an interview for Belgian TV during their European tour Courtney Taylor-Taylor, leader of the Dandy Warhols declared: "I will die about the day I get old. I also think about the Morrissey line: 'I smoke 'cause I'm hoping for an early death and I need to cling to something.'"
