I was at a function last Friday evening and had the pleasure of sitting next to Charlie Richardson. I immediately mentioned Moz and his eyebrows raised and smiled, as though delighted that someone had heard of Morrissey!

I asked him about the picture from Your Arsenal and he said that he had been given a grand (1000 pounds for you sceptics) for it and received a nice letter from Moz.

He also said that Moz had sent a limo for him, to take him as a guest to his Alexandra Palace gig, but he had a huge row with his wife and decided not to go.

He said that he hadn't heard from Moz after that but genuinely held Moz in high esteem and spoke about him with a degree of respect.

When I asked about his daughter in the picture, he said that she was a very head-strong girl and he rolled his eyes to the sky!!

For a guy in his 60/70's I was impressed with his sharpness and his views are interesting to listen to.

Next week I dine with John Gotti... JOKE!!!

At mojo4music.com David Gray has been asked to submit the albums that he likes most. When reviewing the Waterboys This Is The Sea, he says that 'They played for about two-and-a-half hours, then started doing covers and jamming. I'd never seen that before. I saw The Smiths and it was great, but there was no passion about them.' The cheek of it.

Fabricio writes: This month the readers of Bizz magazine (the most important magazine about music here) chose the Morrissey show as the 2nd best international one in Brazil! Sonic Youth was chosen the best international show.

Rico writes: I was watching a sports channel on Brazilian TV when, out of the blue, the hostess said that "even Morrissey would be extremely surprised to know that some people who work for the schools of Samba in Rio (it was during the Carnival) actually listen to songs like HEAVEN KNOWS I´M MISERABLE NOW while working on the allegoric cars that parade on the avenue". Well, the oddest thing is that she didn't mention THE SMITHS and talked about Morrissey as if he were extremely popular in Brazil. Well, Morrissey has many, many fans in Brazil but that was really surprising. The second most bizarre thing was that there was no connection between what she said and the next report, which was about soccer.

I was taken aback and immediately put on Bona Drag to an endless listening. Great, but strange.
