Jon Farmer writes: Dear Morrissey Solo,
I can't believe it, but I actually the Maestro, in the town of his birth on December 11. I was Christmas shopping in Deansgate (a nice part of Manchester city centre), when I brushed past a tall, expensively dressed man, chin jutting and possessing immaculately groomed side burns. I thought in that it instant it was Moz, or else a very good lookalike...it couldn't be him, surely not in Manchester, this would be too good to be true...unless he was visiting his folks for Christmas. I saw him go into David Lloyd Home Furnishings store, so I ran into a newsagents to buy a biro (always be prepared is now my watchword), and then casually loitered amongst the scatter cushions and shelving units. I saw him making his purchases and chatting to the sales staff and then he left, back into the crowded streets.
'Now or never', thinks I, so I dash after him and manage to burble 'Excuse me, are you Morrissey?'(more)

anais writes: I found a unique-looking magazine, "Propaganda," on the racks of my local Barnes and Noble (two girls on the front in chain-mail outfits) and noticed an article on Morrissey was included. It's a review of the Red Bank, NJ show [from Feb. 2000], and includes a beautiful full-page picture. The magazine is the Winter/Spring 2001 issue and it's labeled as a counter-culture magazine. Also included are interviews with Poppy Z. Brite and Siouxsie and Bungee.

Patrick Crane writes: Recently I was watching MTV2, when US-based joke/shock/rap/metal the Bloodhound Gang were choosing an hour of videos, and revealed themselves to be fans of the Moz. They chose 'Suedehead', with singer Jimmy saying: "We often talk about how cool it would be if Morrissey covered an Ice Cube song," before singing the song briefly in a parody Moz voice. Later, they chose The Smiths 'There is a light..', with their singer saying "The Smiths were pretty cool." Again, the parody Moz voice returned as he sang the song's chorus.
I'm not a fan of the Bloodhounds or anything, but it was interesting- what is it lately with US metal acts and Morrissey? (I don't need to mention the Deftones) I think that Morrissey could be in for a big comeback next year if he doesn't mess up, if you consider Robbie Williams' recent TOTP appearance and the interest from US alternative acts...

Cathy Sorbo reviews Morrissey in Seattle (Oct. 1997)An anonymous person writes: Moz tried to lovingly knock Cathy Sorbo's hat off with his mike cord during this show (excerpt):
Morrissey @ The Moore Theatre - Seattle
Morrissey.
I have a book of photographs.
I have a "Live in Houston" video.
I have 3 CD's and an almost complete collection of Smiths on vinyl, but never have I attended a live show. That was about to change...
Miss Dish
FrontDisco writes: Miss Dish is a prominant writer for the local free publication The Willamette Week in Portland, OR. Check this out. Thought it was obscure. Excerpt:
I Can't Believe It's Not Animal!

GENTLE READERS,
Miss Dish devotees know that Her Royal Chowness regularly eats animals. She deep-fries turkeys, downs burgers and enjoys a nice corned beef on rye. Miss Dish is not a member of the meat-is-murder brigade (although she is a Morrissey/Smiths fan, but that's an entirely different story)...

"How Soon is Now" background music on "Why5"
Derby Ram writes: By chance I happened to see part of a programme called Why5 on BBC1 ( UK ) last nite - the programme seemed to be some sort of science series aimed at youngsters. During the end credits the featured music was "How Soon is Now" - thought this might be of interest. The Beeb seem to be using quite a bit of "alternative" music in their progs these days, as opposed to the mainstream tosh they generally favour.

Icb80 writes: Following the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire reference, today at about 11.00am on ITV's CD/UK Saturday morning childrens program.
