Going through some old mail I found this list of Films, Symbolists, Records and Books sent by an old fan and friend, Dominic Sidell. I had never seen it and I'm sure most people haven't either, so I put them on a web page and included some related links I found around the web. I'll go back into my archive and see if I find any more of these lists. Going back 17 years, to Sept. 1983, this must be one of the first.

Morrissey - "Portrait Of The Artist As A Consumer" - NME, Sept. 17, 1983

As usual, check "The Arcane Old Wardrobe" if you're interested in archived Morrissey and Smiths material.

UPDATE (Dec. 21) - torr sends the link to his list of every movie that has directly influenced Moz's lyrics.

I'm an independent press journalist writing a story for Gadfly magazine on Smiths/Morrissey fans. I'm interested in talking with someone who's been to a Smiths/Morrissey convention about their experience, and I've found precious little on the Web about the event. Is anyone interested in helping me with my story? I assure you it will be respectful of all involved.

Were you guys watching the same show?

Little Miss Curious writes: I'm watching 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' on ITV at this very moment - and a couple of minutes ago Chris Tarrant asked the contestant (who was struggling at £2,000) this question: (I think this is it)

'Morrissey' was associated with which band?
a. The Martins.
b. The Smiths.
c. The Joanass'.
d. One I can't remember right now!

Luckily for him, he answered it straight away! Morrissey's bagged him another two thousand pounds! He took the money after that question!

Seamus writes: In tonight's British version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire the question for £8000 was 'What band was the singer Morrissey associated with?'. The contestant responded immediately with the correct answer. Without doubt an easy £8000.
---
Jason writes: "With which band did the singer Morrissey used to front"?
A The Browns, B The Jones, C The Smiths, D The Clarks
Needless to say, the contestant answered correctly to gain £2000!

Just found this on The Creatures website, as posted by Budgie:

How did the duet with Morrissey (and Siouxsie) a few years ago come about? Had you known each other before that?

MORRISSEY WROTE TO SIOUXSIE AND SENT A TAPE WHICH INCLUDED THE ‘TIMMY YURO’ VERSION OF INTERLUDE - NO RELATIONSHIP BEFORE AND DEFINITELY NONE AFTER.

Tonight (20/12) Andy Rourke played with JEEP at Rockworld, Manchester.

JEEP are known primarily through the involvement of Happy Mondays guitarist "Wags" and the two are friends from the DJing circuit in town. Rourke played a rather disinteresting and obviously un-challenging set with the band who managed to almost empty the venue in minutes.

The only excitement was seeing him use his worn out "Hulmerist" Fender bass.

Just noticed that a small advertisement has been placed in the Christmas NME for a Smiths Tribute band, 'These Charming Men' on 19 January 2001 at the Venue, New Cross, South East London. Can't vouch for how good they are, (I have not heard of them personally) but I saw a good tribute band 'The Still Ills' about 2 years ago there and whatever people think about these 'imposters', they mean well, and it is good to hear the songs faithfully reproduced again. Close your eyes and it could be 1986 Brixton all over again... well, nearly!

Meet you in the bar if anyones interested!
