David Johansen (born January 9, 1950, Staten Island, New York, died February 28, 2025, New York City) was a singer, songwriter and actor, best known as the lead singer for the New York Dolls and for his work under the pseudonym Buster Poindexter.

In 2013 married Mara Hennessey. Was married to Cyrinda Foxe-Tyler (1977-1978), to Kate Simon (1983-2011), and to​ Mara Hennessey (2013-2025)​.

David Roger Johansen (January 9, 1950 – February 28, 2025) was an American singer, songwriter, and actor best known as lead singer of the seminal proto-punk band the New York Dolls. He is also known for his work under the pseudonym Buster Poindexter and for playing the Ghost of Christmas Past in Scrooged (1988).
