Morrissey Central "WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE LIVE IN THESE HOUSES?" (February 6, 2025)

My favorite from IANADOAC. That or "Once I Saw the River Clean."

I always come back to those two songs.
Jim Jim Falls, Knockabout World and Darling I Hug a Pillow are my favorites. All in all Dog is definitely one of his better new releases IMO.

This is probably my favorite song from "Dog". That guitar melody is really something. I like the idea of the lyrics -- even if they're a little silly on the surface. And this video is well done.

What I really enjoyed with that album is how creative it was -- exploring new soundscapes. I appreciated it even if some of the tracks didn't quite ring my bell. I had to come back to "Bobby" after a while to really fall in love with it.

I always have loved that jangle pop sound, I think "What Kind of People" has a bit of that twinkle, but I don't expect Moz to be fenced in by that in everything. It really resonated when he said in his last interview with Dodders:

"Smiths songs are powerful, but they are rooted in youth, whereas the solo songs address a world beyond Manchester. It had to be that way, somehow. A lot of people, I know, wanted me to remain as a spindle-shanked boy twirling around Manchester… but that would be ridiculous at my age.”

By the same logic I think it's just about right for him to explore new sounds as he changes too (and his voice, for the better imo)

Is this the only Morrissey song/album with pedal steel or am I overlooking something obvious?
