So much fun to watch this on TV last night!

And it really does ram home how, in those early stages at least, The Smiths was very, very much about Morrissey. He is absolutely magnetic here, oozing awkward charisma, and (in the kindest possible way) a genuine freak. No wonder so many of us fell under his spell.

Passions Just Like Mine lists the first broadcast date as 9th December 1983, which may explain the confusion at the BBC. I have to say that I would have placed the broadcast nearer to the date that the first album was released, but maybe nature played a trick on me? Maybe it was re-broadcast in February 84?

This is brilliant mate, I did have it already but it's fecking lovely to see it pop up as a surprise
My mate from Manc , got us to tickets to this, I can't remember but i think the dude who used to sell Smiths vids was there. He lived in Welwyn Garden City. That dude Thank you for this. It's Funny I follow a couple of people who post stuff on YouTube and I did think It must be harsh for M
If he thought he was ignored when he was in The Smiths and on TV, on the radio, on magazines etc. Imagine how the feck he must feel now (I hope he now know how lucky and supported he was back in the day)

I can confirm this was first broadcast 9th December, I have a VHS copy I recorded and notated at the time.
The last two songs were switched around to make it appear the stage invasion was at the end of the set.

Maybe the confusion is because they recorded it the the 6th or 7th but aired the 9th?
So that is why so many dates???
Either way it was fantastic and the first time I have seen this - being a newbie, it was exciting.
