Toronto
Ahead of the announcement on CFNY, from Jeffrey:
A well-placed source in the big T confirms that
Morrisseys SEPTEMBER 12th show in Toronto WILL indeed happen AS SCHEDULED
...and the place will be MASSEY HALL. Ticket info will be announced tomorrow (Mon 8/18) on
CFNY 102.1(possibly the worlds greatest radio station), most likely during their
Live in Toronto program. Tickets will go on sale soon and sell out fast, as
Massey is NOT a very big venue. Brace yourselves!
"Modern Rock Live" Tonight
reminder: 10:30ET, 7:30PT. In England, it's at 3:30AM I believe. Check
the info below (Aug. 14) for radio station info.

* from Fabio D'Antonio:
"ALMA MATTERS is (this week) VIDEO OF THE WEEK on TMC2/VIDEO MUSIC, the Italian
MTV".
* I haven't seen the video being played on the US MTV except for the premiere, but just
today I saw it played on M2.
* from Ryan:
According to the Siren CD page, the second limited
edition cd of "Suedehead", has been cancelled by EMI. It says the best-of part
of it will still be available on the 8th of September. The single for
"Thats Entertainment" is still scheduled for the 1st of
September. Maybe it will have the rare tracks on it.
* From Grant:
The Boston show is now sold out. But DO NOT miss
the Providence show. The Strand is a fabulous seatless venue and the best chance to see
His Lordship up close. A must see.
* There is a huge Maladjusted billboard in Hollywood, on
Sunset Blvd. It is atop the Whisky heading west, check it out if you're in the area.

Montreal
From S.A.M., "Morrissey in Montreal,
Canada at Theatre St. Denis Sat. Sept. 13th...Tickets on sale Thurs.
Aug. 21st ."
Toronto details on Monday
from Chris Ariens:
Today (Friday), CFNY 102.1 announced that they have
confirmed details on the concert and will be airing them on Monday at 6 PM. The announcer
also went on to say that they will be giving away tickets to the show, and those tickets
will come complete with "seats and backs" I dont know of any small concert
venues with seats that have backs, so Id venture a guess and say hes either
playing Kingswood or Maple Leaf Gardens, both of which are 8000-10000+ seat venues.
No promos in New York
from Michel Y:
Here in New York, the radio station
"Krock", announced the free Morrissey Interview Disc for the Maladjusted release
at Virgin record stores on the night of Monday the 11th. When maybe twenty to
thirty Morrissey fans arrived, there was no Promo anything. A Krock van was there and they
blamed the store, and the store blamed the label, and us fans , got nothing. A few of us
passed around a sheet of loose leaf, signed our names, and left it with the store. Virgin
didn't do well under the circumstances, seemed bothered by the fans, and the label, well
they were the worst of all. To announce a promo and then not show??!!
update (8/17), from Jen:
If you bring your receipt showing that you
purchased "Maladjusted" there (the Virgin Megastore in Times Square), they will
give you a copy of the cheezy interview disc. (while supplies last, of course).

Toronto perhaps not the first?

September

first with the review at Microsoft Music Central
is Piet Heijdeman:
They give it 3 out of 5 stars with listeners voting
it 4 ½. The reviewer basically leaves it to up to the listener to decide. Check it out...
from Q:
Thought you might be interested in knowing that
there is YET another Maladjusted review out there. This one at All-Star mag.
The URL is http://allstarmag.com/revs/
It isnt very flattering and even goes on to bash Johnny Marrs new work. They
go as far as calling Maladjusted "not the least bit interesting."
first with the review at RollingStone.com is Kris Hyttinen:
Headline: "In his most bittersweet"
Just logged on to rollingstone.com and found Maladjusted the featured review of
the day (8/14). The review from Matt Erickson who is an
obvious Morrissey fan gives Maladjusted three and a half stars. He also notes
its Morrisseys best work since Viva Hate.
Low turnout at Cactus Records
from Jermaine Rogers:
Heres one thats UNBELIEVABLE! Cactus
Records is a store here in Houston, Texas which is very prominent. It even won the HOUSTON
PRESS (an alternative weekly) award for best record store of the year. I got there on
Monday night at 11:30pm, waiting for the release of Stevens latest effort. In this
city of over 6 million, I was the ONLY ONE THERE! By midnight, no one else had shown up. I
bought the cd, and left. I called the next morning to find out how many they had sold
after I left. They were open for another 30 minutes, but sold none. I was a bit
disappointed, but I am pleased to report that they are selling like hotcakes now!

Modern Rock Live - info
Thanks to Bbaeckler for letting me know there is a list of stations that run Modern Rock
Live at an Offspring page of all places. The list looks pretty current. Several of these
stations are broadcast on the internet, check AudioNet
if you cannot receive a station in your area.
Tour non-news
from Colin in Toronto:
CFNY announced that the information they thought
they were to receive last night did not, in fact, arrive. They expect to announce
something later this week.
How do you figure it is that Boston is sold out while Toronto has yet to go on sale?
Strange.
from Quincy in San
Francisco:
I heard on the local San Francisco modern rock
radio station Live 105 (105.3 fm), that a certain someone will be playing in concert in
October somewhere in the SF Bay area. They did not specify where, but they did specify
who. They also suggested that tickets may go on sale this weekend. They followed that
announcement up with playing "Alma Matters"
Andy Bell of Hurricane #1: Smiths fan?
from Tom Copsey:
In the latest edition of Melody
Maker, Andy Bell of Hurricane(never heard of them myself) has a tiny article about
the first gig he saw. He goes on to talk about seeing "Aztec Camera" at the
Oxford Apollo. Then he says:
"So I was walking around Oxford thinking Aztec Camera were really cool -
until The Smiths played the same venue on their Meat is Murder tour, which was
excellent. This was not playing about anymore. This was a real band, right from the first
note of their intro music, which I think was Prokofiev.
Then they came on, and Johnny Marr was wearing shades and bending down kissing
members of the audience, Morrissey was doing his Morrissey thing and it was really cool.
They played all the songs off Meat is Murder, and those slaughterhouse noises
were so loud! . . . It made a big impression on me." etc. etc. etc.
Call for Morrissey-related web pages
from Julia Riley:
The forthcoming Issue Nine of the True To You
Morrissey zine will include an article about Morrissey references on the Web. If you have
or know of a Web page or pages incorporating Morrissey-related audio, images, information,
etc., please e-mail me at [email protected], as soon as
possible, with URLs and brief descriptions of the pages.
Also most welcome for this issue are your thoughts and feelings about the new album and
anticipated live dates. Any and all Maladjusted musings will be appreciated!
Please write soon, and please include your town or city, state or county, and country of
residence.
Thank you!

Release party reports
From James in Seattle:
The
Seattle Tower Records Had 15 Promo Interview CDs to give out, and about 35 posters. They
had the posters. It was of the Alma Matters single sleeve. The cds had not arrived and
vouchers were given out just like In hollywood. Not even 35 people showed up, as they had
numerous posters left over. Quite a sad show of support. But Im getting my free
interview CD!
From Jeffery Kennedy
in San Francisco:
No
special midnight Morrissey promotion event at Virgin Megastore San Francisco either. I
asked a sales clerk about it yesterday and received a quizzical look in response.
"Maladjusted", on sale for $12.99, seems to be selling well at Virgin Megastore.
Lots of empty spots on the display racks this afternoon. The in-store DJ spun the disc for
unsuspecting customers. No posters up, though.
Local mod club Popscene holds a Morrissey night Thursday, August 14, to celebrate the
release of "Maladjusted." Starts at 10 p.m. Located at 330 Ritch St.
(thats San Francisco). No details on any special giveaways.
From MrShankly in Houston:
There was a midnight release party in Houston, TX
at Disc Go Round Records. We were given a couple of "Maladjusted" promotional
posters with our purchase and we had free pizza. The store was well stocked with
Moz/Smiths T-Shirts, posters, etc. I was expecting a slightly larger crowd - I know there
are fans all over Houston.
From Antoine in France:
In France we have the US version of the
album and the Virgin store gave the UK version (Island) of the album on vinyl as a gift.
This is not important but a little strange, they call this vinyl a collector.
"That's Entertainment" single, Sept. 1
from John Szolscek:
On the sirencd page, they have an upcoming listing
for a "Thats Entertainment" single to be released Sept. 1st on
CD and 7". No word on possible b-sides but hopefully theyll be the extra tracks
from the greatest hits.
Suedehead: Best of... Sept. 5, vinyl only?
thanks to George Bray for this news:
The release date has been put back to the 5th
of September and it is not being released on cd, it will be on vinyl only and will not be
released in the USA or Canada.

Les Inrockuptibles "divorce"
Thanks to Xavier Dufrien for this
report:
Please note also that the famous french magazine "Les
Inrockuptibles" published last week an article that will probably generate many
reactions from the (French) fans.
"Les Inrockuptibles" contributed very much to Moz's success in France by
writing a lot articles to praise Morrissey (last year "The Queen is Dead" was
elected best LP recorded over the last 10 years) and Morrissey already thank them several
times by according exclusive (and long!) interviews. But this time, "Les
Inrockuptibles" decided to "divorce" explaining that after the very bad
"Southpaw Grammar", "Maladjusted" is another album unworthy of
Morrissey. The sad but clever article is really interesting and I hope that you will be
able to find it soon on the web so that I can read your comments.
Correction
I have been corrected by Ryan:
You say
that you expect people who frequent the site to buy it this week, what about today! I had
the first out of the box at 10:03 this morning.
I should have expected people to buy it yesterday... If you
don't have it yet, you are already behind.

Maladjusted
Out now. I expect all who visit this page to buy the album this week. Early sales are
pretty important so please don't procrastinate! Some reports from the various midnight
release parties:
from Diana in New York:
There was NOT an event at the NYC Virgin store
there was NO giving away of Moz stuff the employees seemed confused with my questions of
Morrissey...
From Moz2699 in L.A.:
Went to the midnite release party at Hot Rocks and
KROQ was there and people were filling out raffle forms to win tickets for Moz at the
Greek on OCT 13.
At the Virgin store in Hollywood a promo interview CD was supposed
to be given away with each purchase but apparently those CDs did not arrive in time.
Vouchers for the still unknown interview CD were given out.
Boston - sold out
Sachin Bhalerao let me know that the Sept. 14 concert has
been sold out.
