So if this rumour about an extended tour is true, that just means we have to wait even longer for a new record, no? Is MORRISSEY even trying to land a recording deal? Don't get me wrong...I saw him both here in Minneaplis and in Madison, and am thankful that he's touring. But some new songs would be nice.

The problem with this song as the encore was almost no one new what song it was. I had no idea if it was a brand new song or a cover song. I couldn't make out a lot of the words but he changed something in the song and mentioned the internet, which just isn't Morrissey. I don't mind the cover, it would have been good if it was in the middle of the set and if he had been playing it a while so I could learn something about the song. As it were, for most, it made for a very anti-climactic finish to the show. The sad irony about all that is we always hope to go to a show at which something special happens. Finally, it did happen and it wasn't the right thing. I would have been far more impressed if he came out and did Stop Me, Bigmouth or the overdue return of Suedehead.

Mozworth . . . I agree with you. It was a great show but I could see that most of the crowd, including myself, had no clue . . . when he mentioned the Internet, I was sure it was a new song of his (in keeping with Wide to Receive). I liked the song but, like you said, it belonged in the middle of the show and with a David Bowie intro. (although the intro given was funny . . . I'm paraphrasing . . . "I told you it was Karoake night . . . see if you can count the mistakes in this one.").Again, the show was great but the last song was a miss. You are absolutely correct about the irony here. I applaud him for the effort, though. He did make an effort to make this Beacon show unique . . . band intro., Smiths storytelling, Julia . . . he spoke A LOT. He was on form until the last fateful decision (set list read "Last Night . . ."). No matter . . . I will never forget it.

All the talking Morrissey does between songs now-a-days reminds me of a Frank Sinatra lounge act...boring! If Morrissey truly cared about his fans, he would sing some of the old classic (mostly Marr)songs, instead of the crap like Swallow and Roys Keen. Please, what a washed up old 80's, half-baked, has-been. Squeezing every nickle out of his old fame by touring old, tired, half-rate songs. And the lot of you keep paying over $50 to keep this old bag rolling on. SHAME ON YOU!!!

To the old timers: Has Morrisey ever been on a tour this long, involving so many countries? It just seems like a huge undertaking without a new album or record label, or anything. This tour just keeps going and I am starting to buy into the fears of those who say this is his "goodbye tour".And he can have all my money. What else am I to do with it?

I'm getting more exited about it , maybe a few summerfestivals in Europe [northern] should be appreciated by many fans, I'm also very feared that this is 'his' Goodbye Tour, but I hope he will release a few albums in the next years.

Why can't a recording artist of Morrissey's stature do what he wants? If Moz wants to tour and sing because that is his chosen path in life, more power to him! He's successful then because he is doing what he wants! I remember going to see the Metallica-Alice in Chains-Suicidal Tendencies Tour a few years ago in San Francisco and it was awesome! It too was done soley because Metallica wanted to just play music, not to promote any new music or album. Not a lot said about that except that it was very cool of them to do that. Is it really so strange then for Morrissey to play for us just because he wants to?Please, berate me if you must, but think first before you hit "transmit"... ;)

hmmmm...which music critics should I ask? How about all the "respected" ones that say Morrissey sucks! I would certainly not base my taste in music on what "music critics" say or what is in "general" thought to be good music. I'm sorry if you rely on other people's opinions to form your own. If you disagree with my view of "Drive-In Saturday" that's fine, but don't talk to me about whether or not critics like it because that doesn't matter to me.

It's a sad reflection of today's Morrissey fan if they don't recognize such a great Bowie song. I think they're in a horrible musical rut, Depeche Mode this and The Cure that. There was music made before 1977.Morrissey has played "Suedehead" to death! I'm happy to hear "Swallow On My Neck"- it's a great song.

How indeed would you know that this is his last outing? Why all this talk of a John Cale produced work if nothing will happen?Well, I know it's not the first time he's ever changed his mind, but I can't imagine what he would do with himself all day long besides more shopping. This has been his whole life and he has many more years ahead of him. I mean, it is sort of suspicious to tell the truth. He's never been on tour this long, and doesn't seem interested in sitting down and securing a label deal, but we'll see where this goes.

hey the concert at the Beacon was amazingly touching, specially coz he was talking waaay too much, I agree about the Bowie song , me or none of the ppl around me had a clue what was it.I also thought that it was a new song , when he mentioned the internet seemed to me funny that he said something about :(i donīt remember well, help me )* youīre all day in the internet you donīt like to take the sun...* --right? hahahhahahahaha.. he also mentioned .. "letīs see how many mistakes you make.." (about the lyrics) This was a great show , but I sincerely think too , that he could add more "power/excitement" if he vary the setlist, coz itīs boring and disappointing to see that most of the people gets very excited at the beginning ,and then he starts singing: |swallow on my neck| ?ŋand makes everybody go down.... Itīs like when youīre making love you are so HOT and TURNED ON , and then the stupid telephone rings--and your lover answers...-- ????????? Please Morrissey have some mercy on us .. sing other turning on songs! --you have so many! not all of us are music critics to know who you are covering and we canīt guess, whether if youīre changing the words or not ..But I am still fond of you...Unloveable

- Thu, Mar 02, 2000 at 23:53:41 (PST) | #37
Driven mad seems to be one of the few here that get it. Drive in Saturday is an awesome song (as is just about everything Bowie did in the 70s). Be glad you're some of the few who got to hear it. And for those of you complaining that the Mozzer isn't playing Suedehead and Everyday is Like Sunday, where where you during the rest of his solo tours in the US? As someone who's seen quite a few of his shows, it's refreshing to hear him sing some b-sides and old Smiths tunes. Frankly the dude has probably sung Suedehead nearly a thousand times during the last decade and is quite justifiably tired of it. He's earned the right to sing whatever he wants - respect him and enjoy your time listening to the Last of the Famous International Playboys whenever you're lucky enough to get the chance. There won't be too many more.

the beacon show was the best show i've been to, next to madison square garden! i thought the set list was great. and even though i didn't know drive-in saturday and agree that it was anti-climactic, i thought it was great that he did a song he had never done before. and perhaps now, I and a few other people will dig out this album and discover great songs. i would rather hear swallow than suedehead again...people complain about the same set lists, yet they want to hear all the same songs that have been done to death before, suedehead, everyday...,etc. i wished he would have done others like black eyed susan and other tracks from southpaw (a great album!)

Morrissey adds flavor to it.And to all you whiney babies..."there will not be another album"...blah blah blah...do your research! He's got new stuff written. It is a fact! Jesus! You act like great artists/musicians have never been label-less before! I'm just as annoyed as you are about there not being a new album but I'm not gonna mope about it. Besides, let him take his time for this new one. He might need the extra time to make it better than the last one, which was terrible.

Iīm just telling that for the funīs sake heīd rather be more amusing and versatile when chosing the so-called setlist. Morrissey mentioned Drive-In Saturday in the interview with Michael Bracewell. Talking of a sometimes strained relationship with Bowie Morrissey said:'I have never spoken about this until now because, in spite of everything, I do respect David....I simply have to play Star Man or Drive-In Saturday and I will forgive him for anything.' Clearly Drive-In Saturday is dear to Morrissey, and it's a great song - well worth investigating if you dont know it, and excavating if you do.

I mean that it is paint by numbers "I'm a better Moz fan than you" crap._(Fill in name of offending group here)_ does not belong at a Moz concert because _(fill in with comment about clothing here)_ and they are into _(insert name of lowbrow band whether or not you know it's true if they do listen to it)_ and _(Insert inane comment about their support for MTV)_ and should free up room for the rest of us who have _(fill in with number of albums/years you have been a fan/number of concerts you have attended and never gotten a chance to be on the front row)_ because we are better and more _(comment about our civilization)_ than they are. They should stay home since they aren't real fans. did I cover it all?

Party scene people do not belong at Morrissey concerts because they wear Harley Buckles, and they are into Led Zeppelin, The Doors, anything they believe to be a KROQ flashback, and rave dance music, and should free up room for the rest of us who have 1000,000 albums, and have been fans for over 30 years now, and have been to 17 of his concerts, but iv'e never been in the front row because some meathead raved his way up there before I did, They should stay home since they aren't real fans.Anywho Susie, do you mind if I call you that?? I don't care how big of a fan they are they're still groovers hiding behind harley buckles, and thats just gross. I HATE LED ZEPPELIN!!!!! did you read my 1st comment??

oh who gives a rat's butt?Your Arsenal is not a recent album and Neither is Vauxhall. You're still stuck in 1992. I'll bet you believe Bush is still in office and Pearl Jam is kiddie music and not AAA adult alterna slush. Did you realize there have been many artists who have released albums since Led Zeppelin? Do you even know the names of any of those groups? Do you even know what decade this is? Just how old are these rebels you speak so highly of? Do they have combovers and talk about mutual investments in between songs? Those don't sound so scary to me. You need to toughen up a bit.
