I can understand Alain's frustration with the lack of recognition he and Boz receive. I've never understood it................

They need more recognition! Do you forget that they are Morrissey's backing band. Alain and Boz need to give Morrrissey some consistant, quality music and then I will give them respect. Nice guys or not, together they couldn't muster up half the musical talent that Johnny Marr possesses.

well, i don't think it's a fair comparison, nobody's nothing. in my book, the smiths will always overtake morrissey solo. johnny marr is a guitar player of a different level and caliber and i'm sure the dynamics of the smiths differed greatly. boz and alain are more rock-a-billy, which is structured and limited. i'm sure morrissey controls more of the musical content in this current line up than anyone imagines, which is a big factor. overall, i think morrissey lacks the direction and consistency you mentioned.... but it isn't the "fault" of his musicians.... he controls his destiny and i'm sure he would be baffled by everyone making him the "victim" of the smiths demise. more so, he might find the subtle implication that he isn't up to snuff or is inferior because he no longer writes w/ johnny marr insulting. i can understand the intent, what you are trying to say because i prefer the smiths myself. could be because i'm an old school 80's fan or just my own subjective tastes. nice guys or what, but alain and boz are simply alain and boz. no one can muster up to anyone else. doesn't make them less or more than johnny marr. viva morrissey

i'm sure i will be castrated for saying this, but i've always prefered morrissey's solo work to the smiths, and i've prefered the music. i find it more exciting, more varied... but yes, viva morrissey.
