From sachin:

Here's something I found a bit interesting and a little bit silly but I'll let you decide for yourself. It's a review of Moz's Boston show in February from the Harvard Crimson, the student newspaper at Harvard university.

Along the lines of mozfanXX, a diamond and a piece of dog @#!!! are both small, but @#!!! is @#!!!-ok that's weak, "but you get the general idea". References to the Backstreet Boys and that Spears girl on this page on the same day are too much for me to handle.

Here we go again: the typical Moz fan is either a lonely teenage girl, a gay man or someone trying to revive his youth ....... Thank you, Harvard Crimson, for finding such an appropriate pigeon hole for every single one of us!

obviously, a show review by someone who doesn't know anything about the smiths or morrissey, except for a picture she saw of them on the web, four minutes before heading to a show she didn't know jack about.

anyone can write reviews like that after looking at previously written reviews and cd inserts!

Reading that dribble makes you wonder what they learn for $60,000 + a year in tuition.

Pure dribble by morons who need something new to do, now that they are cracking down on hazeing.

Roy S. Keane: My sentiments, too. Some persist in labelling in order to categorise everything they seem to see in black and white - we all know Morrissey fans are anything but!

Whom ever wrote that article obviously has no idea what quality music is!!!I DID NOT!!!!,like the article AT ALL!!! Just the fact of the backstreetboys being compared to MORRISSEY makes my head spin!Hopefully whom ever wrote that article will one day realize the error of their stupidity! Lighten up (again). You guys just don't seem to ever learn. I am not convinced that the author was even remotely serious and was in fact very witty. For those of you who mentioned how he doesn't even know the first thing about Morrissey and so on.....did you read the same article I did? He showered the man with praise throughout.

What the @#!!!, the guys who are writing these articles about comparing Morrissey, to Fagstreet, and the little whore Britany, must be crack heads, When they wrote those articles they must have been smoking something. The fans of the backstreet boys and britany have no taste in music, plus backstreet and brittany aren't real artists, theyr'e sort of manufactured in a way, by the music companies. Morrissey in no way should be compared to those pieces of @#!!!. Plus the fan base is diffrent in no way they should compare Morrissey Fans to those type of fans. Those writers should take there articles and shove them up there ass's.

I agree with Ringmaster...etc. If the author of that article REALLY meant to compare the two, he would have stuck with it. But not even half the article is about that. It was just an attempt at a witty introduction, and the fact that a bunch of people who normally wouldn't read a Moz review did read it because of the BSB's is a good thing. Remember we all start from humble beginnings musically. A 12 year old BSB fan could very easily come to regret it and start listening to Moz. The article was about Moz and was a good review, the Backstreet Boy comparison was a tongue in cheek hook to get readers.
The Brittany Spears article, however, was about her and the comparison was serious and inane.

hey hey -- be nice to harvard students (re: that $60,000/hazing comment). just as you dont like categorizing of morrissey fans, dont stereotype us. i thought the show was just wonderful, as did the reporter (i dont know her, but she seems well informed). and dont be so damned sensitive about these comparisons. they were funny and true. also, she didnt compare their singing ability. the earlier post admiring the use of bsb as lead in bait was on the mark. did you know tom york of radiohead went to oxford? see, even stuck up pricks (this is a tongue in cheek comment directed also at myself) at expensive universities can be utterly devoted to the smiths.

OH MY GOD!!!! Can you be more stupid?????? How can you describe the "typical fan"? There is none. We all love Morrissey and interpret his musical genious differently. That's what makes him so great. His music is so diverse, and touches so many people. That Back door Boy crap is all the same... just 5 pretty faces that make little girls scream. You don't need to have an ounce of talent. Apparenltly, no talent is needed to review bands either... someone needs to rid the world of this ignorance!!!!!
