Johnny Marr on new Billy Bragg (previously unreleased)
From Jason Gura:
Yesterday marked
the release of a new album from Billy Bragg, "Reaching
to the Converted." The album consists of
B-Sides and other rarities Bragg has composed over the
years. A special note for Smiths/Morrissey fans is a
re-working of "Shirley" in which Johnny
Marr contributes the guitar portions.
Another FYI - Bragg also has a CD out, "Bloke on
Bloke." Which is comprised of B-sides from the William
Bloke recording sessions. There is another collaboration
with Johnny Marr. This time Bragg covers Morrissey's
"Never Had No On Ever." It is an interesting
cover, in addition to Johnny's guitar, they also added a
horn section to the song.

Elvis auction in Las Vegas (Oct. 8 - 10)
From Lush:
...the
CNN site has stated that there will be an Elvis
Auction Oct.8-10 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
"The Presley Sale handled by Guernsey's will encompass
more than 2000 never before displayed items from the vaults
of Graceland."
Seeing as many of us who frequent Moz-solo are going to the
Vegas show [Oct. 7], I thought this would be an interesting
bit of info.

"The Perks of Being a Wallflower"
From Tami:
Yet another Smiths
literary reference: I read this amazing book this past
weekend called
"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" (by
Stephen Chbosky). It's this Catcher in the Rye-esque story
about a freshman boy. Throughout the opening of the book,
there are several references to the Smiths and the song
"Asleep". It's a great book, even without the
Smiths bonus.
