Morrissey's typewriter on auction

At Yahoo! Auctions, closes Dec. 12:

Morrissey's personal typewriter from before The Smiths which he used to type many letters to pen pals, Smiths lyrics, and the signed letter about the typewriter which comes with the typewriter. Originally auctioned off at Christy's in London back in 1984 but I happened to come across the owner at a record fair in London almost 4 years ago. He just happened to want to sell it. The typewriter comes with a carrying case, the original Christy's auction booklet which lists the typewriter as well as an autographed t-shirt of Our Morrissey holding the typewriter. A one of a kind item.

This might just be my horrible eyesight, but does it look like it says MORRESSEY on the t-shirt, or is it just me??

MozzyLizzy, it's just you. morrissey always dots his "i's" with that diagonal slant. the other marks are wrinkles in the shirt. it does seem a little fishy that such a valuable item would be sold on yahoo auctions, though. why not Christie's again?

if this story is for real, i wonder how much it went for in 84...

I would love to hear from the lucky bastard who gets the typewriter on Morrissey-solo. Maybe the person's sentimental value for him by buying such a treasured item. Maybe it would go back on auction when i'm rich and famous...well i wonder.

This is wonderful. I could type and Type for hours just knowing steve typed on this very typewriter. I'm sure Moz would sell his own mother if he thought he could get $75 for her, he'll pimp anything for cash, what next.

I've got some wood from the original cross for sale. Or maybe you'd like to swap the typewriter for the head of John the Baptist I have in my closet.

If memory serves me correctly, this is the third "Moz" typewriter I've seen for sale. But who Knows? maybe this one is legit ;)

MozzyLizzy I think you are right, that does look like an "E". I think it must be a TYPOGRAPHICAL error. ahem.

It eventually went for $10,000.00 !!!!!

CRAZY!!!!

I was slightly wary that, although the seller had the 'Christies' catalogue, he kept referring to 'Christy's'

Maybe I'm just too suspicious though?
