Mark Harris performing with Morrissey?

From Dan:

On the 12/1 Howard Stern Show, Mark Harris, irritating widower of Morrissey favorite Martha Rae, discussed performing with Morrissey during upcoming West Coast tour. He was unclear whether he would be an opening act or would appear onstage w/ Moz. He did, however, seem to think Moz's band would be backing him up (specific mention of Boz and Alain).

And from Fernando:

Its Wednesday morning, and I'm listening to Howard Stern, Mark Harris is there and he is stated that he will either be opening for, or singing with Morrissey, he named both LA nights at the Palladium, and both nights at the House Of Blues and he mentioned the names of Boz Boorer Alain Whyte, Spike Smith... I didn't catch everything he said cause I was half asleep, but I think he was under the assumption that Morrissey is a group... they were busy making fun of Mark's gayness, and talking about his gay experience with his old lover David, and Howard and them were making fun of the... did not quite hear what they said about Moz... I'm sure something was said when he first mentioned him...

it seems morrissey has a thing for acts that do horrid renditions of "living la vida loca"(as if the original wasnt band enough). first el vez and now mark harris...

the name of the band.
i can't wait to see that

who is Mark Harris? And why does anyone listen to Howard Stern???
I want to see Sack, not another idiotic opening act such as El Vez was.

I heard it this morning too. Howard didn't seem to care or even acknowledge what Mark said. For my money I rather goof on Mark Harris than put up with the Planet Rockers or that bald lesbian folk singer.

Morrissey IS a band. It would be rather awkward if the boys didn't show and Moz had to sing a cappella.

I caught the end of it too. Howard Stern said that Mark Harris is "very gay. He gets gayer everytime." Now you know why Moz picked him. ;)

yup

To Alarcon: ;)

To those who are in the dark as to who this Mark Harris fellow is:

He is a bisexual...lounge act (for lack of a better word) who married showbiz veteran Martha Ray while (or just before) she started to become ill.

He would take her out on the town in her wheelchair and host lavish Holllywood parties at "their" home (she, in an almost vegetative state). Eventually, she died, leaving him some $$$.

Now he's just trying to make a star out of himself, having gotten a taste for the lifestyle, and loving it. He's a regular guest on Howard Stern, and they ALWAYS take the piss out of him!

Anyway, that's what I gather...

People listen to Howard Stern so they can
laugh at something that isn't PC and where
nothing is taboo "bosie".
Sure the strippers get boring but the celebrity
interviews and the ethnic humor split my side
more then anything else has in years.
F*** SACK - Gallon Drunk has been the only entertaining opener Morrissey has had.
I can't wait to see what goes down!

just a semi off topic story....a few years ago i went to the howard stern book signing in LA and while i stood in line for 8 hours i notice plenty of smiths/moz tshirts in line. they werent those sickening rebel types either

If you can't get what Stern is about then
how can you possibly understand what Morrissey's
about? They are accused and persecuted in a lot
of the same ways (i.e. we know that Morrissey's
not a racist and if you listen to Stern you would
know he's not either).
felipe messina guzman - you must be another person
who has formed a complete opinion without ever really listening to the show.
It's just entertainment. Don't you get it???

daverdoo,

i'm sorry that you didn't find my comment about stern being a pile of dung funny, it was in the spirit of stern raunchiness. it's funny, also, that you are so quick to assume that i must not have a grip on what stern is about, because that is not the case. in fact, i think he can be hilarious; but that does not alter the fact that stern is a parasite.

his humour/comedy is mediocre, and whilst i am astute enough to understand the irony and complexity of his brand of humour-unfortunately, too often, the masses do not "get it". and it is for this very precise reason that stern is dung. there are too many people in this ism-afflicted country that do not "get it", and stern's abuse of his position as a popular syndicated morning show host leads to a normalisation of disrespect, prejudice, division, hatred and violence.

there are other comedians far funnier and more conscientious of their responsibility to buck the status quo.

yours,

is this a joke? Moz, put down the pipe and slowly step away.

oh man...I didn't recognize the name, but I remember the story from my mom because she liked the story enough to repeat it a couple of times...this Harris guy might have been on some afternoon show like Rosie at the time singing some show tunes.

Some of you people are complete morons!! I agree with the one cat who said that if can't "get" Howard, how can you "get" Moz? I tend to side with
Howard than with Moz. In my opinion-- only my opinion! Moz isn't that good anymore.I'm still a
dedicated Smiths fan-ever since '83... but his solo
stuff just doesn't do it for me--sorry! I like his first releases with Street, but ever since I think he lost his lyrical appeal and most definately his musical writers don't help one bit! I think his music is just so damn dull...no more hooks, no more melodies...just dull!! Sorry--I strayed from the topic considerably...
I will never see another Moz concert again... I saw The Planet Rockers, Phranc(w/ The Smiths too!), Gallon Drunk, and I didn't see El Vez, but I've seen him many times before & I have to say this...
they were all EXCELLENT!! El Vez is a professional showman, an excellent entertainer, and an excellent
social satirist. The Planet Rockers included the legendary Eddie Angel in the band and actually played rockabilly-- unlike the jackasses backing Moz-- Boz--uh.. PLEASE!!! The Polecats were a frickin' joke!! Gallon Drunk were reminiscent of the fabulous Birthday Party--so that was refreshing, and Mark Harris sings standards and the such and would probably be very entertaining...NOT
TO THE IDIOTIC CHACHES & "REBELS" WHO LIKE MOZ NOW-
A-DAYS!! They will probably boo and throw crap at them like they did to the Planet Rockers and I'm
sure did to El Vez... SCREW OFF!! I would rather pay to see The Planet Rockers, El Vez, and Mark Harris together than pay to stand next to one of these new idiotic Moz fans!! I'm not being racist either (for those of you who will accuse of me of that because I am Hispanic!!)....ADIOS!!

Dearest filipe,

I'm sorry I didn't get your "funnie".
I like to jump to conclusions - I'm right 99% of the time.
You just sounded like another person who doesn't
understand the importance of having something
so brutally honest in a world of phonies.
I could care less what people think of the comedic
aspects of the show. That's a matter of taste.

My attack came from my stance on the political
importance of having something that is so beautifully representative of freedom -

no matter how much human gas it involves.

HEY, EVERYONE ON THIS COMMENT BOARD NEEDS TO CHILL ALITTLE BIT.

Did anyone ever here of GENE or THE SMOKING POPES? Both great bands that opened for Morrissey and The Smiths.
Morrissey's music is still great. The problem is that he never sings the great music in concert.
Yes, MEAT IS MURDER and BREAK UP THE FAMILY were gems, but he needs to include more in his stage show. Here's a clue: "MAKE THE BAND KNOW ALL OF YOUR SOLO STUFF, AND A FEW CLASSIC SMITHS SONGS, THAT WAY YOU COULD HAVE SOME VARIETY FROM SHOW-TO-SHOW, NIGHT-TO-NIGHT." (Sorry I was talking to myself there.)

Anyways, I think that Morrissey should rock The Pallidium. Its a great venue, and California fans deserve a Two-hour Morrissey support feast.

Welcome to California, MORRISSEY, show us a that you appricate all the support.

Suggestions: Late Night on Maudlin Street, Find out for Yourself, Bengali in Platforms, I wont Share You, Last night I Dreamt (paino included),
Unlovable, Lifeguard Sleeping, Oh well I'll never Learn.... Do Your Best and Don't Worry....

Ohh.. Howard is Howard! Like him, dilike him, he don't care! Howard should listen to HOW SOON IS NOW?, I'm sure his rocker ass would like the guitar licks.

I disagree with you Nobody's Nothing...but that's ok. We here in LA deserve nothing short of a swift kick in the ass....we have been very fortunate to host so many shows within our vecinity...so I don't think we "deserve" a 2 hour set. If anything our East Coast buddies "deserve" to get a 2 hour set...they haven't seen the Mozzer since the Maladjusted Tour...we've now started round number 2...and still no Moz in east Coast or Canada...Mexico even.

Westside Representing Eastside...and other regions.

Dang...I really wanted to catch Sack after the awesome reviews they've been getting.

  • Tom Cruise
  • Boy George
  • Waylon Smithers
  • Lenox Lewis

Not Kordell Stewart
