What typical racist crap. The standards to write for Select must be pretty low, I suppose you don't have to have even a modicum of intelligence to work there. My baby cousin just learned how to write, maybe I'll send her over there. Anyways, Morrissey, we can't wait to have you back here in Aztlan. Hope everything is going good across the pond, and we'll see you again in December.

a lot of people there had "got morrissey?" shirts--that's a cool slogan, but I didn't like the front picture. they said they got 'em from Hot Topic (mall shop.)

When Morrissey(gulp) dies, it's going to be sad to see the NME and SELECT to be the first to say "I knew him first and I knew him well." Kinda sad that Moz predidcted his own future in Shoplifters...oh well he'll never learn.

I didn't see any problems with this article. So you are saying it's wrong to state what race the fans were that were there. That's who Morrissey plays up to, the mexican crowd. If that wasn't true, he wouldn't be stating at the concert "Can we say Mexico Mexico Mexico" when we are clearly in Indio, CALIFORNIA of the United States of America!! If anyone's being ignorant, it's Morrissey. He made the comment one night that to spanish would be a relief, then changed it to mexican, someone must have told him there was a difference. If Mexico was so great, why isn't he living there? I just wish he could respect Americans, what ever race, because this country is filled with different people from top to bottom. I would like to see an American flag on his belt, since it suits him so much to live here. I would really love to hear him say something intellegent instead of "We is Morrissey" and "I'm El Vez". He can't even be happy with who he is. If you went back ten years ago and told him about the way he is now and the s*** he was putting out now, he probably would have laughed in your face, or given up music.

If I disagree with you "OPEN YOUR EYES", I will get ripped. And if I agree with you I will get ripped anyhow,(which I dont because I am of Mexican desent myself). So I will state my opinion anyhow. But you are entitled to your own opinon no one can take that away from you, and no one can take my opinion from me either.I will remember to keep it as short as possible.
I dont think Morrissey has seemed as happy as he has on this tour. I think hes fallen in love, fallen in love with our culture, with our beautiful people, and our language as well as many other things.
You are as narrow minded as the person who wrote this article, if I love anything about this country its our right of freedom of speech. Morrissey has that right as well as you and I.
I don't think putting him down because of his likes and dislikes is right. Whos to say he won't be saying I wish I was American on his next tour, or French or what not, would you put them down also? Or is it just something about Mexicans that you dislike?
Its an honor to have the Mozzer sing about us!!
I hope I have not offended anyone while stating my opinion(s)

Open Your Eyes you posted notes before on similar topics of the fan base and hispanic fans. if i can be frank:YOUR STORY IS GETTING OLD!
attend a bruce springstein concert if you need to belong, so quit your crying please, it makes you look weak. and i myself love to see all types of people at moz concerts,. i really think theirs a asian following that needs to be heard. i've met all types of cultures at many moz functions, and i just have one conclusion: moz fans, no matter what race they are, tend to be nice loving people and happying to share their thoughts on the man himself.

Ok, Mr. Anonymous, cowardly, "Open your eyes", listen up because I'm only going to say this once. When referring to a band, group, or crowd of Latinos, why does the author use the word "gang"? I was there, and I didn't see anyone flashing signs or shooting anyone. I'm Chicano, and I'm not in a gang. There were no gangs there, there were a bunch of Chicano Morrissey fans there. If it was a bunch of Anglos he was talking about, he would have just said a group, band, or what have you. The racism inherent in his writing is obvious. The same goes for the term "street kids". The obvious implication is that we're all street kids, or something to that effect. Once again, if he were talking about Anglos, he would have just said a bunch of "kids". What bothers me isn't the fact that he mentions us, we all know that Morrissey loves us, we don't need this idiot to tell us that. It's the blatantly racist tone that the moron takes when referring to us which is what I needed to comment on and point out. Anyways, I've no more time to waste on you. See you all next month in Cali!VIVA MOZ!

morrissey once started a song asking a simple plea:
"can i please ask the journalists to stop throwing things?"although there is indeed a large latino morrissey following in southern cal (and perhaps in the entire west as well), i don't see why people need to accentuate it to a point where it starts sounding like a novelty...can we just say that his music is just too influential and powerful to be restricted to the brits?
one of my good friends loves moz and the smiths and is latino...so what?! i can name other filipinos like myself who like morrissey...i can name some chinese folks who like him immensely? and while we're at it, i know a few lesbians who belt out a moz tune here and there out of nowhere...
but why talk about morrissey fans as if there were separated sects? can't we just conclude mozzer as the bomb that 'brings us together' and be happy that he has a diverse following?

Morrissey dosn't know jack about what is like to be Mexican. Why does he have to say anything anymore. The more he says, the less and less I like him. He needs to just shut up and play the
music. Shouldn't that be what a concert is all
about. Morrissey, all you can say when you are on
the West Coast anymore is stuff about Mexico or
being Mexican. This is all getting pretty old.
Morrissey has lost all intelligence. I'm begining
to think he is on drugs. "We is Morrissey",
please explain the intelligence in that one. I
think Morrissey is just trying to decrease his LA
fan base to an all Latino crowd. Any latino fan who wouldn't have a problem with that is ignorant.
At least Depeche Mode dosn't pull this crap.
