From rent
boy:
Vauxhall and I
was voted was of the "90 best albums of the
decade" in December's Q magazine, in which 10
albums were singled out from each year...
"What
We Said Then - 'The crap rockabilly's gone.'
What We Say Now - 'At last the artist isn't aping past
glories, but it's the images that stay with you - of
Morrissey facing half-time in life and career, closer to
understanding himself.'"

Interesting that Q, one of many magazines to laud the glam/rockabilly sound of Your Arsenal opted for Russian style revisionist history calling it "crap," while reviewing the equally excellent Vauxhall. For my money these are the finest moments of his solo career. And as far as the new record goes, John Cale?!? Mozzer, Cale's cool and all, but there's a capable man in your own camp sir Boz Boorer who is more than qualified. He generally writes the best songs of the solo material, he has a studio, and has a nice body of production work already. Hear my voice...Hear my voice...hear my voice...

if, by the eloquent phrase 'crap rockabilly', you are referring to 'Your Arsenal' then you should hush your mouth, jammy sod. Restitution can be only made if you offer yourself as a sacrifice, perhaps to the gods of the wet plimmie for a severe spanking.

I really like "Vauxhall & I" but my favorite Morrissey CD is "Viva Hate". I especially like the song "I Don't Mind If You Forget Me". That song is excellent.

Vauxhall and I is Morrisseys masterpiece so far (even better than Viva Hate). He sings more lovely than ever on this album. Great!

I don't think I could choose what is the best Morrissey album. Morrissey, everything I have ever heard from him, sounds completly kick ass. From the Smith's to kill uncle to vauxhall and beyond........I said it before and I'll say it again........Move over Old king, Elvis, in with the new king MORRISSEY. All respect to Elvis, though, God rest his soul.
