Jesus, will someone use any other Smiths' song besides "How Soon Is Now?" for their movie soundtrack? It seems like the people who made "Pretty In Pink" were the only ones who used another Smiths' song.

Doesn't anyone remember that "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" had the song "Please, Please, Let me get what I want". It actually wasn't the whole song just the instrumental parts, during the museum shot. They credit the song to Stephen Morrissey even!

Please dont think me lazy and uninformed (because i am)... but what was the song on Pretty in Pink, exactly? I remember the soundtrack had some other decent songs on it... New Order i think...
The remakes i have heard (thanks to Frankly Vulgar) are decent... except Everclear, ugh.

No offense, but I really hope that Morrissey fans do not rush out to see what is sure to be an awful movie based on one 30-second snippet of an old Smith song. It's crap capitalism and gullible, misguided fans that enable record companies such as Warner Bros. and Reprise to put out lazy "Best Ofs," "Singles" and "Greatest Hits" packages of tunes we've had and heard for years already. And to add, it was the Dream Academy that submitted the "Please, Please, Please" instrumental to Ferris Bueler's Day Off. I'll get off my soapbox now.

i remember watching the trailer for "the krays" here in the states and hearing "last of the famous..." but then when i sat through that god awful movie just to hear the song they never played it. ARGH!!

Mick before you go and insult a movie and assume it will be terrible you should of followed the link and made an informed prediction, the movie will be about the hacker kevin mitnick and how he got caught, it should be interesting actually, even though screech is in it

Hey kids...
Lets also not forget that unforgivable waste of celluloid, that is The Craft, featuring a How Soon Is Now cover by Love Spit Love (I also heard it in a trailer for another film the other night, but don't recall the film. looked lame, though). I agree though, that with such a catolog of songs to choose from, aspiring filmmakers (like myself) could choose better smiths/morrissey songs to feature in their films. (queen is dead, anyone?)

Yes, I agree, there are lots of other SMITHS songs
that would be perfect in many other situations.
I hear SMITHS songs in my head, as I play my part in the movie of my life. As I know many of you do.

TAKEDOWN is a fictional bit of propaganda against Kevin Mitnick...still in jail for 3+ years for having INFORMATION that could be used in the commission of a crime (no bail/not trial). He is a political prisoner in the war for freedom of information. He maintains his innocence. I'm surprised the propagandists who made this film didn't choose "I've Changed My Plea to Guilty".
