Extract of forthcoming autobiography - Tate St Ives exhibition book

An excerpt from Morrissey's forthcoming autobiography appears in the book that accompanies the Tate St Ives exhibition The Dark Monarch, Magic and Modernity in British Art. It's a brilliant piece called The Bleak Moor Lies about a chance encounter on Saddleworth Moor in 1989. I can't wait to get my hands on the full thing.

'I've chosen a record which is by The Smiths. It's slightly tongue in cheek, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, it's called. It reminds me sometimes of difficult times, but it also reminds me to laugh at those difficult times. Bring yourself and rise above it and just smile because there's plenty to smile about in life, and I'm a cheerful chap.'
