Not sure how newsworthy this is, but hey, it's the weekend...

Browsing through the town paper today, saw this piece.

The headline in the paper read "McCain can count on the vote of one 18-year-old from Orange, as long as Morrissey stays out of the race."

State's youngest GOP delegate faces the bright lights - Orange County Register
Her enthusiasm surged most when the conversation shifted to music. Particularly the singer Morrissey, who she saw perform in Los Angeles last year.

"I have an obsession," she said, eyes lighting up. "He is my version of Brad Pitt. He took his shirt off and, oh my … I couldn't take my eyes off of him."

...After covering much more political ground, Mahan was asked if there was anything to add.

"You got Morrissey in there," she said. "You're good to go."
Ummm, hello?!? Someone get this girl an Obama-Moz '08 shirt STAT!

I went to Rob Dickinson's show last night at the Hotel Cafe in L.A. I've seen him perform here before, but last night he performed cover songs in addition to the usual solo material and Catherine Wheel classics. Well, he caught me off guard when he mentioned Morrissey. Here's what was said..."Morrissey was never particularly good at emotion, or passion...very kitchen sinky. But there was one song that always blew my mind and I think it's one of the most beautiful songs ever written and I'm going to fuck it up..." and this was his intro into an acoustic version of Please, Please, Please...complete with a harmonica solo toward the end. Although a bit edgy, it sounded brilliant. He sold discs of the show right after and I purchased a copy. Anyone want to hear it?

On her long awaited new album, British singer Marianne Faithfull covers a Morrissey song "Dear God Please Help Me".

This double CD album will also include songs originally from Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Dolly Parton or BRMC, along with duets with guys like Keith Richards, Jarvis Cocker and Antony.

But look out, the Moz cover is on the second CD, not available on the single CD classic version.

"This Charming Man" used on BBC Scotland trailer
"This Charming Man" is currently being used on the advert for the upcoming BBC Scotland documentary entitled "Gordon Smith: From Player to Power" about the Scottish former football player turned Scottish Football Association chief executive.

The programme is aired this Friday 5 September at 10:35pm in the UK.

The song was no doubt chosen due to Smith's surname, and more Smiths songs may be used in the programme itself.
