This week my radio show The Adventure Club will be a three hour career spanning retrospective of Morrissey and The Smiths. All eras represented. Moz's camp has supplied some unreleased live stuff for me to play. There will be plenty of giveaways including vinyl copies of the Greatest Hits album. If in the LA or San Diego areas you can listen in at 98.7 FM from 7P-10P (west coast time) this Sunday night (3/23). You can also listen online at www.star987.com.

Indiana punk rockers, Kingston Falls have had their new record, "Armada on Mercury" leaked online prior to it's release next Tuesday. On that record, there is a track entitled "Dry Skin (Moz Def)", a track that seems to be a description of a suicide set against an all Moz playlist. This track ironically comes from the icy state Moz himself visited for the Suedehead music video in honor of James Dean.

Moz continues to influence even today's generation of underground music in the US.

Check out the track HERE

On "The New Backwards", a bonus LP packaged with the vinyl additions of Coil's final album "The Ape Of Naples", there is a track entitled "Nature Is A Language", featuring the lyric:

"Nature Is A Language, Can't You Read?"

As both a longtime Moz and Coil fan, I was pleasantly surprised to find this connection. :)

Article in today's Guardian accusing Conservative leader David Cameron of hypocrisy in his apparent admiration for The Smiths and The Jam. Lists reasons why Morrissey is fundamentally opposed to everything Cameron stands for (other than the immigration issue, chortle); discusses his failed attempt to get photographed outside the Salford Lads' Club and concludes that Tories basically aren't allowed good taste in music. See link below:

Hands Off Our Music! - guardian.co.uk
Bands such as the Jam and the Smiths were at the forefront of the resistance to Thatcherism in the 1980s. Twenty years later, Tory leader David Cameron lists them as among his favourite acts. Is nothing sacred, asks John Harris

Marian Keyes is a best-selling Irish chick-lit author. According to Amazon, her newest book is available for pre-order under the same title as one of The Smiths’ earliest singles, This Charming Man. Could Keyes be another unlikely Smiths/Morrissey fan?

A summary of the story is posted there:

`Everybody remembers where they were the day they heard that Paddy de Courcy was getting married' But for four women in particular, the big news about the charismatic politician is especially momentous ... Stylist Lola has every reason to be interested in who Paddy's marrying - because although she's his girlfriend, she definitely isn't the bride-to-be. Heartbroken, she flees the city for a cottage by the sea. But will Lola's retreat prove as idyllic as she hopes?... Not if journalist Grace has anything to do with it. She wants the inside story on the de Courcy engagement and thinks Lola holds the key. Grace's sister, Marnie, might be able to help but she's too busy holding her perfect life - perfect husband, perfect children, perfect house - together. And what of the soon to be Mrs de Courcy... Alicia will has waited a long time for this and is determined to be the perfect politician's wife. But does she know the real Paddy de Courcy? Four very different women. One awfully charming man. And the dark secret that binds them all...
