Miranda Sawyer of The Guardian was invited to the rehersals of the musical based around the songs of The Smiths, planned to run from 30th June until 23rd July in the Lyric, Hammersmith.

The article includes an interview with the director and musical director and mentions some of the songs that are planned for the production.

At last nights (18th June) 'Songs of Innocence' gig, part of Patti Smith's Meltdown festival, Billy Bragg made reference to Morrissey.

Before starting a Guthrie cover, Billy said "this song is about being a child and wetting the bed...which reminds me of a dark winters night I spent at Morrissey's house."

Other contributers to tonights gig included: Marianne Faithful, Tim Booth (James), Patti Smith and Sinead O'Connor.
